That gesture is actually banned in some other European countries like France and Austria from what I am reading. It's too bad Bulgaria hasn't qualified for anything since 2004. They are the only ones of our 4 neighbours who don't act like this.

So we qualified 4 via entry standard and 9 via ranking. Now we have: 1 out - Panagiota Dosi (women's high jump) 2 out - Alexandros Papamichail and Panagiota Tsinopoulou (mixed walk relay) 3 out - Konstantinos Zaltos (men's hammer throw) 3 out - Dimitrios Tsiamis (men's triple jump) 3 out - Christina Papadopoulou (women's 20km walk - if they fix the ranking) Of course there are others but I think anyone who is more than 3 out is unlikely to get in. We already heard rumours here that Dosi will get in and Zaltos will move up two spots so let's see. Also Hodebar is 2 out of the men's triple jump, will his quota also be refused? @De_Gambassi

Sad for Gicquel but if this becomes official then it would mean Dosi gets in. Chapelle I believe is injured anyways, and the next athlete to get in would be Dehaynain, so do you know if that quota would also be refused? @De_Gambassi

It is supposed to count to replace her 10km result and move her up from 54 to 51 on the rankings, I'm not sure when World Athletics will correct this or why they haven't, but I guess it doesn't really matter unless 3 other athletes ahead of her withdraw. Just sad for her because she worked so hard in the last years, then was injured and had to miss the Balkan Championships and National Championships this year where she could've gotten easy points to boost her ranking, though she herself said she didn't expect to compete at all in 2024 due to injury so in a way she thought it was impossible to make the Olympics anyways but now she is fully recovered right at the end of the qualification period.

Really uncalled for. As a country we host an international basketball tournament almost every year with the World/European Championships for youth categories, sometimes more than once a year. This arena alone hosts a couple dozen Euroleague games per year, as well as many other events. I don't recall there ever being an issue like this. Mistakes happen in all countries.

Filtisakou in the women's 20km walk was 46th before the update, then 47th after the update, and now she's 48th so they must've done a second update. Meanwhile in the same event, Papadopoulou is still 54th without her new points from last weekend...

Also men's triple jump? Tsiamis is 3 out. I remember for Tokyo I think he was 1-2 out originally and ended up getting in.

They made a mistake in the women's 20km walk ranking. They have Christina Papadopoulou's top result being 1125 points from a 10km walk, but last weekend she got 1135 results score from a 5km walk, but when you add the placing score I believe that makes it 1165. This is her highest score but was somehow not included in her ranking?

Well I think Raba and Klose will pass him, so he would be 35th and then 33rd if the Brits don't take the quotas. I know is also strict sometimes with quotas, so that could get two of our athletes in (Zaltos in the men's hammer and Dosi in the women's high jump).

Is this confirmed? Sorry for the Brits but it would be huge for Zaltos' chances...

We are on track to have our smallest athletics team since Barcelona 1992 I actually feel that overall we are much stronger than we were in for example London or Rio, but a lot of things really didn't go our way this year with quota cuts in race walks, increased competition, injuries/pregnancies, dips in form, youngsters failing to live up to their expectations... We have 4 qualified via entry standard: Tentoglou, Stefanidi, Karalis, Drisbioti Before the National Championships we had another 7 who were basically qualified via ranking: Tzengko, Emmanouilidou, Gusin, Anastasakis, Frantzeskakis, Filtisakou, Polak (11 total) Now we have another 2 who did well at the National Championships and basically qualified as well: Scarvelis, Adamopoulou (13 total) And another 4 who will be very close and hopefully make it in with withdrawals/rejected quotas: Papamichail, Zaltos, Dosi, Papadopoulou (maximum 17 total) Dosi was in the top 32 the entire Road to Paris and the last month or so started dropping like crazy, this week went down to 31st, then Palsyte got the entry standard so now she's 32nd, but Stanciu will pass her in the new ranking so she'll be 33rd if my maths are correct Also sad to see Pesiridou not make it, she honestly did so well this season but the 100 hurdles got really difficult it seems. In my opinion she is better now than the two Olympics she actually qualified for.

announced our final team (we snuck in a few relay-only swimmers ) for Paris, there will be a total of 17 swimmers (14 men and 3 women), which is our largest swimming team since Beijing 2008 where we had 18 Back then also it was easier to qualify and there were more quotas available, so really this is so good for us. We went from 18 in Beijing, to 14 in each of London and Rio, then 12 in Tokyo and now back up to 17. Often we complain about various sport federations so I want to give some credit to our aquatics federation and the swimming coaches for doing such a great job, hopefully we can continue this trend I'm not sure why we have so few women in swimming, it didn't used to be that way but I wonder if a lot of the girls are choosing artistic swimming so we are 'losing' them to that sport...

The 'Big 6' European teams or 'Big 5' since Russia aren't competing, are still far ahead of you. At the European Championships, you lost by 19 against the Netherlands and 16 against Hungary. At the World Championships, you lost by 12 against Italy. You also lost by 15 against Canada who you might be competing for a quota with. Lose one of these games by 5 goals or less and then you can start talking about qualification. I don't mean to be rude but I've followed water polo for many, many years and trust me it is not as easy to qualify as you think, even with no Russia or African team accepting quota...
