  1. I don’t think it will be very progressive in LA. It could be in a Trump ruled country - they won’t want Trump slagging it off.
  2. I suspect the IOC will take more control of ceremonies from now on to avoid risking sponsor backlashes.
  3. Boxing needs to change its scoring system to something like Taekwondo or Judo to survive.
  4. I honestly wouldn’t care if they shut our boxing programme down. Corrupt sport.
  5. I am not surprised at that. In recent history every Brit predicted to do well in the Judo loses in their first fight while it’s the surprise ones who do well. Judo’s funding level must sadly be in doubt Unkess anyone else does a surprise run later on in these games.
  6. The BBC have pretty much said if will be very difficult now for the women to make the Gymnastics team final. Becky Downie did well - will it be enough for the final?
  7. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/article/2024/jul/27/paris-olympics-china-swimming-zhang-yufei-fei-lewei-qin-haiyang https://www.ruetir.com/2024/07/27/boos-remain-absent-in-paris-but-controversial-chinese-swimmers-are-ignored-by-their-competitors/
  8. I think with the swimming we now need a shock medal in an event where we didn’t really see even a bronze happening or no other 50;50 or better chances to be lost to make the total numbers look healthy. Particularly as the Women’s side is pretty bad
  9. ‘Great Britain definitely had a chance at a medal here. I don't want to be too harsh but I would put it down as a missed opportunity. If you do contrast it, we had our best games in over 100 years at the last Olympics and now we are clinging on by a thread here with Adam Peaty. If Adam Peaty can somehow win gold tomorrow, we will have forgotten about this first day...’ Steve Parry about as pessimistic as I am.
  10. The opening ceremony has made the tensions between a lot in the USA and the IOC worse.
  11. It just feels like swimming deserves an excellent meet in primetime after two games or finals in the middle of the night but that might not happen.
  12. To be fair the res tof them don’t look as strong for the 4 x 200m as well.
  13. Hoeofully it will force the IOC to act and get rid of China. They must know the USA is not droping the WADA investigation.
  14. I will go on about it until doping is eradicated.
