  1. Rio 2016 will be her SEVENTH Olympics!! I remember thinking she was old in Athens 2004! Here we are in 2016 and she is still putting in top class performances on the international stage. I admire her commitment, it amazes me....25 years ago she won her first World Championship title.... the same year Red Star Belgrade won the European Cup in football, Miguel Indurain was winning his first Tour de France and Mike Powell and Carl Lewis were having a world record duel in the men's long jump! Her longevity is just amazing
  2. Fingers and toes crossed that Ellis O'Reilly can become Ireland's first ever female Olympic gymnast
  3. Wow!! That's great news, thanks I'm glad because he is a decent gymnast on the floor, hopefully he can do make a nice result in Rio!
  4. 40th place for Kieran Behan, I'm guessing his Olympic hopes are gone now?

  6. My prediction for the Asian qualifiers: Group A: Uzbekistan, Iran to qualify automatically; South Korea to play-offs Group B: Japan, Australia to qualify automatically; Saudi Arabia to play-offs
  7. Yeah, RTÉ will have live online streams too, they had 12 online channels for London 2012.
  8. Here this video pretty much sums it up.... and believe me, this is just the tip of the iceberg . Well actually, that was just a joke video but it might as well have been the real thing RTÉ are shameful beyond words, just look at how they treat Eurovision year after year, making sure we send the worst possible "candidate" and openly stating that we can't afford to win so a place in the final will be a good result
  9. RTÉ are a joke as with everything they are involved with..... Jimmy Magee will be commentating on coverage for what must be his 100th Olympics and he's probably the least bad thing about the coverage . Do I really have to go into details TV3 are god awful.... and yet they will probably be a step up from RTÉ . Sky Sports' GAA coverage is just B-A-D. Anti-British bias? Not really, I think that's usually reserved for the English team at the World Cup.
  10. Ahh, good to hear. Kerry is a great spot to visit. Yeah I'm from Donegal . I never thought I'd live to see the day when the Healy-Rae name made it onto a sports forum....seems like they are taking over
  11. Haha . Hey, I can't steal what is given to me for free
  12. Ahh, so you're a Kerryman? The final is on Sunday week, so the 24th I think. Pat Spillane, Joe Brolly and Colm O'Rourke.... God help us for yet another year of their input
  13. I live in the Republic, just a few miles from the Northern Ireland border. Where I live we are able to receive BBC Northern Ireland on Freeview and also I have Sky Ireland package too so I'm all good in that regard. Thank God because having to rely on RTÉ would drive me mad
  14. This is still very good. Not as good as the wonderful scenario of controlling everything with a remote control across endless Olympic channels as in London 2012 and without fear of internet crashing, but the BBC was the host broadcaster that time so it was to be expected coverage would be scaled back a bit. Everything is still online so that's pretty good anyway. Plus I have RTÉ which will add more coverage for Irish users in addition to BBC. I can't complain. Hopefully will be the same for 2020 and beyond
  15. BBC's coverage of London 2012 was simply phenomenal.... I will never forget being able to flick through all those Olympic channels and being able to watch whatever I wanted. I wonder will they be able to repeat this level of coverage for Rio 2016. Edit: I see my question has been answered above
  16. I will for sure. My idea is that for team sports, we could imagine the templates like a wall-planner you sometimes get in advance of some big football tournament and you fill in the scores with your pen as the matches progress. Similarly, there is no reason we can't do that here for all team sports during the Olympics.... the schedule and fixtures will be known in advance so we can create nice templates for them and it should be relatively easy to keep them updated as the Olympics progresses. Individual sports would be more tricky because in athletics for example, the draws for the heats of each event usually takes place only 1-2 days in advance of the event. But we can still have a pre-ordered template and the names of each athlete will just have to be filled. I was thinking of something with a nice design, incorporating the Olympic rings symbol, and uniform sort of style (colour, layout, etc.), it will be like our special Totallympics templates for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. They should look nice as it is a major event (after all the Olympics are what we are all about here ).
  17. Maybe we can create some fancy templates for the Olympic Games so that results (especially team events results) could be posted with ease as the Games progresses. The template could be filled in advance, minus the results, which will obviously be filled as each day passes. I don't mind creating some sample templates and seeing what users think.
  18. As always, I'm just happy we are participating at all
  19. It's unfortunate for sure but we mustn't be too sad because we are close to equalling record number of nations competing at TISC Annual (current record is 35).
  20. Seems like we are in danger of losing two of the ever-present members of TISC this time with the absence of Egypt and Czech Republic.
