  1. I spent my time trying to fight the scourge of Black Friday too and then my bank balance died on that day . Oh well, at least I have some nice gifts
  2. Toploader - Dancing in the Moonlight
  3. Mixed team events have no added value, it's horrible to see these changes being pushed
  4. Wow, I'm just home and I see I have a lot of posts and updates to catch up on From reading the views so far here, here are two options coming to the fore about how to decide the host: 1. Vote to decide the host - like @dcro pointed out, it could result in strong feelings for those who don't secure the bid by popular vote. To counteract this we would need to carry out the voting in private and announce the winning bid without giving any details about the vote breakdown (similar to TISC award for best user voting). 2. Random game of chance - everyone has an equal chance of hosting. I guess it could be tweaked to weigh the random chance slightly in favour of those bidding nations that did not host before but those such as Mexico and Serbia too have their chance. So if was another key game like the one we had for TISC Annual 2015, those nations who are bidding to host for the first time could start with 1 key each and all of those who hosted before would start with no keys before the "key search" takes place. Thoughts? I must say it is very exciting to see so much interest!
  5. TISC Open 2017 - Host Candidates: Official Bids: Algeria Canada Croatia Mexico New Zealand Poland Serbia Tunisia United States We have already had some speculative bids so if those nations could make an official announcement they can be added to the list
  6. Wow, great news All this interest makes me sure that it's the right time to make the announcement that TISC Open 2017 is open for bidding!
  7. That was how we used to do it in the very beginning, we worked down through the classification. But one year the top 5 or 6 all declined so it was decided to open up hosting to anyone who was interested and to hold a random selection process. I don't mind how we decide as long as it is amicable and it's nice that we now have a situation where many are interested in hosting
  8. It's almost certain I will open bidding to other users who want the opportunity to host TISC. I will announce it soon so anyone interested can already think about putting their name in the hat. I am unsure as of now how to decide the host if there are multiple bidders who want to do so.... probably another game of chance like the one in which Denmark won the Golden Ticket to host TISC Annual 2015.
  9. Great images with inspiring music. Very sad we will be leaving lovely Lithuania
  10. Typical James Wade performance, winning all the right legs and battling through. Let's hope for a good final
  11. I caught up on most of the post-result messages and commentary now, thanks everyone for making my night. I really love the fun we have during these TISCs, I am looking forward to the next one already. Since a few people have already asked about hosting I should say a few words on that. Right now I will defer making a definitive decision on that until the the new year. I truly love hosting these events and I have fond memories of welcoming you all to my little part of the world. But there are many users now who have been inspired to host TISC and share with us their country and their culture and I think it would be lovely to give people that opportunity to fulfill that desire. So it will be very likely that if the demand is there I will open the door for others to take on the mantle and honour of bringing TISC to their little part of the world. No matter where TISC 2017 will take us, rest assured Séamus will be there waving his shamrock and sharing a beer with his fellow participants
  12. I will be back in half an hour to read through all the posts and answer your questions about hosting. Thanks so much for all the nice messages everyone
  13. Wow! I really did not expect this at all. Thanks to all who voted for The Corrs and to all participants who made this a truly memorable experience for me. This edition was right up there as my favourite, I loved so many songs and the quality was outstanding. Congratulations to Mexico for a wonderful battle and eventual silver medal and to Canada who captured bronze as well as my 12 points score. But the biggest thanks of all goes to @Werloc who provided us with a fantastic live event that was packed with fun, charm and a whole lot of intensity! Thanks for taking so much time out of your busy schedule for this, it is greatly appreciated Dear Lord, what just happened!
