  1. I guess it's only normal for a Dutch guy to get upset when he finds out that the world isn't all flat
  2. If we’re re-living history, let’s hope those flat-earthers are paying attention when we get to the part where we all re-discover that the world is not flat.
  3. I'm not totally against it, but maybe it would be a bit harsh to try to find out the worst of the worst (which is what we will do when trying to find the best of the worst) . I have considered it though so I'll wait to see if anyone has strong opinions either way on the matter. Edit: actually on further reflection, yeah it sounds like a good idea. If it's 24 nations, the 8 who are eliminated could enter a consolation bracket to find the winner via knock-out. No need to find the worst that way About your second thought, well I already brought up that issue earlier on this thread as that issue occured to me. The only fair way to prevent it would be to have everyone vote in advance of the contest but that was ruled out. And I am fine with that. I strongly believe that everyone or indeed the vast majority of people will vote for the songs they like the most, regardless of seeding or how it impacts the draw. I'm not sure anyway that there will be seeds after the group stage. It will follow a simple format like Group A winner vs 2nd place in Group B. Or maybe Group A winner vs 3rd place in Group B. It will depend on the format. But it won't be possible to seed them especially if we are using simple format like 3 points for win, 1 point for draw and if each match has different number of judges who completed their votes. I have no idea how the competition will go in honesty, it's very difficult to plan out in advance especially when we have to chase up votes from users as we go. So from an organisation perspective, it's probably going to be far from a neat process. But I'm sure it will be fun nonetheless.
  4. Formats depending on the final number of entries: 24 entries 6 groups consisting of 4 nations each Top 2 qualify for the Round of 16 The 3rd placed nations will qualify for the repechages (6 songs competing for 4 remaining places in the Round of 16) 4th placed nations are eliminated 25 entries 5 groups of 5 nations each Top 3 in each group qualify for the Round of 16 The 4th placed nations will qualify for the repechages (5 songs competing for 1 remaining place in the Round of 16) 5th placed nations are eliminated 26 entries 6 groups (4 groups of 4 nations and 2 groups of 5 nations) Top 2 in each group qualify for the Round of 16 3rd placed nations in the 5-nation groups also qualify for Round of 16 The 3rd placed nations in the 4-nation groups enter repechages (4 songs competing for 2 remaining places in the Round of 16. 4th and 5th placed nations are eliminated 27 entries 6 groups (3 groups of 5 nations and 3 groups of 4 nations) Top 2 in each group qualify for the Round of 16 3rd placed nations in the 5-nation groups also qualify for Round of 16 3rd placed nations in the 4-nation groups enter repechages (3 songs competing for 1 remaining place in the Round of 16) 4th and 5th placed nations are eliminated 28 entries 7 groups of 4 nations each Top 2 in each group qualify for the Round of 16 3rd placed nations in each group will enter the repechages (7 nations competing for 2 remaining places in the Round of 16) 4th placed nations are eliminated 29 entries 7 groups (6 groups of 4 nations and 1 group of 5 nations) Top 2 in each group qualify for the Round of 16 3rd placed nations in each group and the 4th placed nation in the 5-nation group will enter the repechages (8 nations competing for 2 remaining places in the Round of 16) 4th placed nations in the 4-nation groups and the 5th placed nation in the 5-nation group are eliminated 30 entries 6 groups of 5 nations each Top 2 in each group qualify for the Round of 16 3rd placed nations in each group will enter the repechages (6 nations competing for 4 remaining places in the Round of 16) 4th and 5th placed nations are eliminated 31 entries 7 groups (4 groups of 4 nations and 3 groups of 5 nations) Top 2 in each group qualify for the Round of 16 3rd placed nations in each group will enter the repechages (7 nations competing for 2 remaining places in the Round of 16) 4th and 5th placed nations are eliminated 32 entries 8 groups of 4 nations each Top 2 in each group qualify for the Round of 16 3rd and 4th placed nations are eliminated
  5. The deadline closes next Friday, 10th July, then on Saturday 11th July there will be a full reveal of the nations and the artists and songs chosen to represent each nation. We will also reveal the participating users, but you won't know which user has entered with which song / nation. Later that day the live draw to allocate each nation to their respective groups will take place and the entries will be divided into different continental pots in order to distribute the songs as evenly as possible in terms of geography. And finally when the draw has concluded @Olympian1010 will reveal the logo and the slogan which he has created for this edition. Once the draw has concluded, work will begin on Sunday 12th July to allocate judges for each match and private messages will be sent out to each participant to inform them which matches they must judge and how long they have to complete their judgements.
  6. Nothing much to update since. We still have 24 registered to participate and 18 songs and artists have now been selected.
  7. 24 users have now registered and one other thing I can point out is that all continents are represented. Well, apart from Antarctica 17 artists / songs have also been chosen.
  8. Just a shoutout to all the participants in the last TISC contest to raise some awareness. If you have been tagged here and you have already entered, just ignore this message. The only reason you have been tagged again is because we are still keeping it secret who has entered so far. For the rest of you here who have not yet entered, just a reminder that the closing date to register, choose your nation and entry is Friday, July 10th. @konig @KingOfTheRhinos @titicow @vinipereira @Federer91 @intoronto @Vic Liu @dcro @Wumo @Benolympique @Bohemia @catgamer @Janakis @Vektor @Ashton @Fly_like_a_don @Griff88 @MHSN @Dnl @Gianlu33 @Henry_Leon @Pablita @SteveParker @Ruslan @Werloc @Glen @mrv86 @Ionoutz24 @heywoodu @Wanderer @Skijumpingmaster @rybak @kungshamra71 @IoNuTzZ @DaniSRB @hckosice @justony @Cobi @Belle @amen09 @tuniscof @Illya @dezbee2008 @Olympian1010 @NaBUru38 Thanks for you attention and would be nice to have you onboard.
  9. No, though it's probably for the best since we don't want fatigue to hit in when TISC Open 2020 kicks off soon after.
  10. Just a quick weekend update, so far 21 users have registered and 12 artists / songs have already been confirmed.
  11. Yes for sure, that would be great. I was planning on asking for help anyway so I would be really happy to let you have that
  12. Just a quick update. So far 18 users have registered with a nation and of those, 8 have already chosen their entry.
  13. You are more than welcome to create those events if you want of course and for sure it sounds like a nice idea. But that would be separate from this TISC Special. I think you are thinking more about the Totallympics Games that were initially planned and this TISC Special was supposed to be a part of that. However, that was cancelled and this now is a stand-alone TISC Special event. So I was thinking about TISC tributes or anything related to Japan (it could be music, sport, culture, whatever) when I was asking for ideas.
  14. Here’s what I got when I took it. Your Political Compass Economic Left/Right: -7.38 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.56
  15. 13 users have picked so far. Everyone has gotten their first preference so far as well.
  16. Of course! Just send me a private message to book your country of choice and you can choose the song and artist then too or at a later date within the registration period. Just make sure to send it by PM to keep everything secret
  17. Just a quick update to say that so far 11 users have registered their choice of nation
  18. I think it might be fun to keep it a secret until the end of registration and just keep updating the number of people who registered? Then we can do a big reveal and see if we are surprised that some nation wasn’t chosen? I will inform anyone who tries to choose a nation that is already booked to make sure they choose again. What do you think? Maybe it’s a bad idea? It could be frustrating I guess if someone keeps choosing already booked nations
  19. Tahiti is covered by French Polynesia. But I will add the following: New Caledonia, Mayotte, Réunion, Martinique and St.Pierre et Micquelon. There could be some others I'm forgetting but again if there is some other you want to choose we can discuss it too.
