  1. Any news on why the Discus Group B hasn't started yet? Edit: nevermind
  2. Team Bronze on the prowl! Kotryna Teterevkova with her first senior medal in the 200m Breaststroke Of course, her season best and PB were far far better than the winning time here, but I'll be glad with a medal at least
  3. Lithuania can't decide what it wants to be We have a 3rd from Šidlauskas, Meilutytė (100m breaststroke for both) and our men's rowing double sculls. But we also have 4th from women's rowing double sculls, men's rowing pair and Teterevkova in 100m breaststroke. There are good odds to pick up some more fourth places in swimming, canoe sprint and athletics, so I'm going to keep my eye on that
  4. Only 21 athletes at the Decathlon... Benkunskas was looking very good and could've used this spot to get valuable qualification points for future events.
  5. First day is not going to look good for Lithuania, perhaps Bertašius and Zarankaitė can do something, but their seasons have not been looking great.
  6. Don't know if I'll be able to catch it live, but the women's 100m breaststroke final is going to be the first time in Lithuanian swimming history that more than 1 Lithuanian athlete is swimming in the same final Feels like a very good year for Lithuanian sport, especially after a disastrous Olympics. Hopefully we'll remain this strong till Paris 2024, although Meilutytė is still unsure if she is going to continue after the European Championships, because she doesn't want to plan ahead and she's starting university this Autumn.
  7. Here's to hoping that Italy chills out a little bit and lets us take two medals in the women's 100m breaststroke, because they have a lot already and we need a top 10 to defend And I have high hopes to score in rowing today as well.
  8. If Donata Karalienė takes a European Championship medal with a third different partner, then she's an unstoppable monster Hopefully they'll achieve it
  9. What a brilliant start to the championships for Lithuania Andrius Šidlauskas had a very strong early career, but then faded a bit during the last 4 years. Very glad to see him with his first medal in senior competition and hopefully this motivates him to new heights. Very happy to see that Meilutytė and Teterevkova look on form as well, so the final question mark is how will Rapšys look in these championships.
  10. Good performance from Šidlauskas, looks ready to at least attack for the bronze. Wishing the best for him tomorrow.
  11. As a person that had 10% faith of Morauskaitė snatching a bronze, I was devastated by Bol's decision, especially subsequently seeing her run 400m under 50 seconds
  12. The real problem with rankings is that some people that are qualified get injured and such, whilst some athletes that don't really have a chance to qualify anymore end their season, then get the invitation that they decline, because they are not prepared. That's how three of our athletes stayed at home.
  13. Since @Bohemia commented before that the French women are not getting along, I hope that this attitude training is going to work out and they'll be friends again
  14. No 4x100 freestyle men relay for us here, sad :/ Rūta Meilutytė 2nd in 50m Breaststroke and 5th in 100m Breaststroke by season bests. Kotryna Teterevkova 6th in 100m Breaststroke and 2nd in 200m Breaststroke Danas Rapšys 4th in 200m Freestyle and 6th in 400m Freestyle Andrius Šidlauskas 4th in 100m Breaststroke and 5th in 200m Breaststroke Medals could be abundant, but the margin for no medals is always very thin. I believe the most in Rūta, Rapšys was injured during Worlds, so perhaps he'll be strong here? Andrius tends to do well, but I think two finals without medals is the best that he can do here. As for Teterevkova, she has every chance to claim her very first senior medal, but only if the nerves don't get to her, she had this chance at Worlds too in 200m and didn't take it.
  15. Welp, as I mentioned earlier, Šerkšnienė is skipping this due to injury. For some reason both Vaiciukevičiūtė and Meškauskaitė were not added to the team. Remigijus Kančys was added to the team to run the marathon even though he wasn't a qualified athlete? 19 athletes for Lithuania starting in the end and Žiūkas only doing the 20km Walk.
  16. Going to be an interesting championships, Meilutytė, Teterevkova, Rapšys and Šidlauskas can contest for medals and top 8. Navikonis, Sungaila, Pancerevas, Savickas and Grigaitis to round up the Lithuanian team to 9 athletes. Most of them are here so that Lithuania could run the 4x100 and 4x200m Freestyle relays. It's crazy how the 200 free became the most contested discipline among Lithuanian men, because there are at least 4 more junior level athletes focusing on it, so it could become our primary relay. Don't know if we're doing 4x100m medley, somebody would have to be forced to do the butterfly, because we didn't send any butterfly specialist to this competition, but Rapšys, Šidlauskas or Pancerevas can do a passable enough butterfly, but repeating a top 8 is still unlikely. Next European championships we should have even more athletes and a larger women's team, we'll probably be able to run some women's relays as well. I'll re-update if Lithuania make any changes to our team, since they didn't officially approve it on their webpage.
  17. Yeah, I saw she barely made it in triple jump, but no 14 metres this season doesn't look good for a final qualification :/
  18. I'd say Lithuania is pretty good at balancing both rowing and canoeing and being competitive at both. Key difference is that in canoe sprints we were mostly all in on the sprint distances, so with the Olympic changes we are just getting back on our feet right now. One thing though, in Rowing we have good history in both men and women's events, but in canoeing sprint we've been sending men only to all of the major events for I don't know how many years now.
  19. Perhaps Mykolas will bring more of a challenge in 2023 season, because this year I don't think Čeh is beatable. My best hopes are two medals again, but I think Stahl will be very angry after Worlds and Gudžius is done for this time for sure
  20. What's up with Maja Askag? All of her PB's are from 2021, did she suffer from an injury? Thought she'd be competitive in senior competitions nowadays.
  21. Our team is going to be down to twenty athletes as Šerkšnienė is not going to be taking part due to injury. As for the goals in Munich, well, would be nice to see Alekna and Gudžius repeat their medals from WCH, Liveta Jasiūnaitė could fight for a medal as well, especially since she's mad at herself with how the World Championships turned out. Then, I'd expect finals from Morauskaitė in 400m, Karinauskaitė in 3000m SC, Baikštytė in High Jump, Petrokaitė in Long Jump, Kilty in Triple Jump, Zarankaitė in Discus Throw, Baikštys in High Jump and perhaps Truskauskas in 200m. Sounds ambitious, but if they're on their A game, it's easily achievable.
  22. I've read the qualification system and yeah, seems that three can be registered, but only two allowed to compete in the same event. They definitely changed this rule recently, because that wasn't the case before apart from u18 category. Edit: Just looked up EU u20 in Tallinn, and you could register four, enter three there. So I guess world u20 just followed the u18 route, which I don't necessarily agree with. They really tried to limit the amount of participants by raising the qualifying marks substancially. Then we have such events like men's high jump with 16 participants, where three had an NM, so only one athlete with a height didn't qualify to the final and that qualifying mark was not as good as a PB from one of our u20 jumpers that is at home.
  23. PAIN Paulina Stuglytė 2cm away from qualifying to the discus throw final. I think we can wrap it all up and call it a day, 13th place is the best that Lithuania gets in these championships now
  24. I think we're going to have heaps of trouble with race walk, because a lot of our walkers retired and many are at the retirement age, we should still manage for Paris, but I don't know what's going to happen to the men's team after that, because no talented young men at all recently, only women are showing promise in all age categories.
  25. Suffering from success, I see We had only three moments in history where Lithuania had overqualified in athletics. European U18 championships three girls had the high jump standard, 5 women with qualifying marks in 20km Race Walk 2016 Olympics and 5 women marathon runners in either 2012 or 2016 summer Olympics, I can't recall which
