  1. I don't think that's correct. 2022 results get priority over 2023 so if there are continental allocations from 2022 or 2023 they will come first at the expense of the 2023 WC quota winners. See the last paragraph. https://olympics.com/en/news/how-to-qualify-for-bmx-freestyle-paris-2024-olympic-qualification-system P.S. Yes it is a confusing mess.
  2. Lol. It does bring the system into disrepute when you're left scrambling around trying to find a continental representative in a field of just twelve. Both the sport and the IOC need to invest in the sport in Africa to avoid this in future.
  3. With only six qualifiers from the qualifying process it will be tough although not impossible for South America to qualify anyone so they are likely to pick up the Australian quota. There are no guarantees on the British quota either but they have the best chance of retaining it.
  4. Any NOC quotas that have to be allocated to ensure representation from every continent will come from placings at the 2022 WC rather than this year's. https://olympics.com/en/news/how-to-qualify-for-bmx-freestyle-paris-2024-olympic-qualification-system
  5. Yep, they are effectively the 10-12th ranked quotas of the twelve for Paris. However, the USA will almost certainly lose its quota to an African NOC. The chances that all the other five continents will be represented among the six qualifiers from next year's qualifying series are slim so the others are also at risk. For the moment though they have the quotas. https://olympics.com/en/news/how-to-qualify-for-bmx-freestyle-paris-2024-olympic-qualification-system
  6. Even without Daley they've got stacks of depth on the 10m platform with Ben Cutmore, Matthew Dixon and Robbie Lee in addition to Mattie Lee and Noah Williams so they should get their quotas whether this year or next. GB has secured a full set of diving quotas at the last four Games so I'm sure they'd be very disappointed if they didn't do so again.
  7. Yep, he's basically a cliff and high diver and didn't look particularly impressive on the 10m platform at the EG but I guess the French are grateful for his experience as they build their programme for Paris.
  8. We may meet in international competition in that case. I shall get some pasta eating practice in at lunch later on. Do you recommend a good wine with the pasta as part of your training programme? 😎🍷
  9. I warned you! 😊 Can't complain too much as the Mexicans and Ukrainians both dived well and produced 95+ dives towards the end. Well done to them for performing so well under pressure.
  10. I hope you've calmed down after your little rant. I never even mentioned GB but clearly you've got a massive chip on your shoulder. Nor did I say the competition wouldn't he weaker without the Russians competing. All I was arguing with good justification is that the Russians are not as strong as you imply and that all you've offered up to support your argument is a group of aging divers at least some of whom may not even be competing anymore. The current war would not necessarily have anything to do with that since the wear and tear of diving, particularly in the platform events, means that most don't compete beyond thirty. At best they would likely be on a downward curve and unlikely medallists at this level.
  11. I believe he's married to a French national and lives in that country.
  12. And yet you don't appear to be involved in the Italian TJ progamme. A shocking waste of talent! 🤔😊
  13. You must be concerned by their performance in the men's 10m platform synchro then given that they qualfied second.
  14. Not a compelling argument. Looking at the three athletes you refer to from the previous Games it is open to question how many of them are still competing. The 3m springboard diver will be 34 by the time Paris comes around which is elderly for a diver and he's unlikely to be improving while others will be. The two 10m platform divers you refer to will be 33 and 31 respectively. The latter is also Ukrainian born and it must be open to question whether he will wish to compete for Russia in light of current circumstances. You're largely pinning your argument on a group of aging divers whose future is questionable. P.S . Daley hasn't officially retired
  15. Is it possible to hop, skip and jump within that distance? 😎
  16. Don't you think you're exaggerating the impact of the absence of the Russians. At the last two OG their nineteen divers managed to win just one bronze medal between them.
  17. They rarely if ever achieve a clean sweep so the chances are that other countries will win 1-2 events.
  18. Renoir, Matisse and Cezanne coming good for Les Bleus. 😎
  19. The problem with the European Games is it doesn't have the core sports like athletics - the team event has pretty weak lineups - swimming, gymnastics, road/track cycling, etc. which attract the viewers. In contrast it has a lot of sports that frankly British viewers have little or no interest in. Team GB doesn't even bother to send athletes to compete in the non-Olympic sports. Both the CWG and multi-sport European Championships is a different story and both get full coverage. Personally I thing further development of the European Championships concept is the way forward rather than the European Games but I'm sure views differ from country to country. To date British TV has never covered these Games and this year it's not helped by having to compete against an Ashes cricket series and tennis's grass court season. It just isn't a fair contest.
  20. A new WR set in qualifying for the women's compound with 715 out of a possible 720.
  21. I believe one of only two known holocaust survivors to go on to compete at the Olympics. https://www.teamgb.com/article/sir-ben-helfgott-1929-2023/1xaWCon1OFwS94BPuRg3DG?s=09 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Helfgott
  22. You seem a bit confused. Alex Yee doesn't compete for Malaysia.
