  1. I went to the Indonesia leg of FIBA World Cup trophy tour. A bit uncommon choice of venue, a hard to access open plaza with a giant Freedom Monument as the backdrop. There are better and more iconic places than here. By the time I arrived, there are only around 10-15 people, maybe as the sun sets more people will come.
  2. What’s happening in Berlin? Kim Woo Jin shooting a 3 ?
  3. We had an invitational tournament in the FIBA World Cup venue as a preparation to the Asian Games and probably as a consolation to the national team which failed to qualify to the World Cup. Syria and UAE are invited, where they will play with Indonesian senior and junior team. By the first day, a lot of drama has happened. First match on 4 PM was originally Indonesia A vs Syria, but 2 hours before the match it became Indonesia A vs Indonesia B because the Syrian team just arrived less than 24 hours before the match. Syrian team played UAE later in the evening and the organizers played Saudi anthem for the UAE team. Obviously they protested and requested to play the correct anthem, but the organizers weren't able to do it so the Emiratis were asked to sing their own anthem aloud
  4. snatched the gold from in badminton mixed team!
  5. People messaging me saying "look at what happened", and I replied "What? we were beaten by " Took me quite a while the women's team beat in the process of reaching top 8
  6. No, it’s because our national TV often cuts to “live video games competition” during this World Champs and my aunt shared a stream of CCTV as an alternative. Indeed they often cut podiums and rebroadcast it later (plus lots of ads), but that’s better than showing 30 to 45 minutes of the competition each evening before abruptly showing something that is barely can be called a sport.

  8. winning their first ever WC medal in men's 50 m backstroke So historical to the extent that CCTV replayed the full race 5 minutes after it finished
  9. The team ranking points will be awarded to the players too, using the usual method. The BWF World Team Ranking in tournamentsoftware.com is basically a scam, since it's not used for anything
  10. I barely watch sanda
  11. Well sadly, we have to wait and see...
  12. winning gold in Unversiade (plus the presence of the president at the OC) increased interest in this event. Friends asked me for streams of this event. But one downside: Some people freaking out when they found out Gaudeamus Igitur is played instead of the Indonesian national anthem (One even alleged it was Chinese anthem - how great is Sinophobia in this country)
  13. You don’t always see an Iranian on top of the podium of a wushu event.. And Hosseini decided to make it even more unforgettable by dropping the mascot
  14. At this point Basma Lachkar should be the national heroine of Brunei after World Games and Universiade
  15. was unhappy with men's changquan silver, looked wobbly in some parts. Even bronze medalist is better imo
  16. As far as I know, badminton is a non-ranking event. Unless I've missed something...
  17. has won gold in wushu, already better than previous performances
  18. Chinese mask changing / Bian lian is a must if we talk about Chengdu
  19. Only 2 athletes for , so no multilingual banner thanking the host this year (its their tradition)
  20. I had a cable TV for CCTV-4, no worries
  21. I hate my country, again the state TV cut to “competitive video gaming” Btw, they played Indonesian local folksong Ayo Mama during the Indonesian team march
  22. Thanks to China for including wushu, I can say we might have the best chance to achieve best medal haul since 2011 (which was also hosted by China). Very few of top athletes go to university during their career, a very clear example of this is in badminton (the ones we are sending are mostly club players or former junior national team players who was ejected by annual evaluation)
  23. Lucky you, in here we got switched to some "competitive video gaming"
  24. If only the old ass bureaucrats in the LOC did not interfere so much by scraping the original plans with Japanese TV stars and Nintendo characters... I'm still bitter with them to this day.
