  4. What difference does that make? Swimmers also can't decide who's allowed to compete. I mean, we can easily turn this thing on its head. Just ask the athletes in Women's 800m if they would allow Semenya to compete or not. You might not like what you would get there depending on what you think about the Semenya situation. This is why CAS exists, they will make the call, and until then, try to beat him in the pool.
  5. Looks like 4 countries will have all of their 6 teams in qualifying positions after the WCh. I am adding Egypt's (Women's epee) and Morocco's (Men's epee) spots to the next best teams, because they are already 16th and won't be in the Top16 after the WC events. 6 teams Italy, South Korea, Russia, United States 4 teams France 3 teams Canada, China, Ukraine 2 teams Egypt, Poland 1 team Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iran, Japan, Switzerland, Tunisia
  6. Let's not play this game, that's pretty much considered as an obligation at every sport event ever and refusing it is seen as a protest against the official result.
  7. Sun is an asshole, we have always known that about him. But everything that has happened here was initiated by Western swimmers. How Sun handled it makes no difference for me. It's pretty simple: swimmers have absolutely no right to decide who is a cheater and who isn't, and have no right to protest at an event. There is a time and place for this outside the WCh.
  8. And I have seen how Western media treats every non-Western swimmer who dominates multiple events. I still can't forget how some sites started calling Hosszú a doper during Rio because they couldn't handle that a Hungarian swimmer was beating the world in many events. So let's just wait how CAS decides and keep this shit out of the competition.
  9. The thing was initiated by Scott who didn't want to shake his hand. There are swimmers who can handle these situations and there are ones like Sun, but nothing would have happened if Scott didn't want to protest in some way.
  10. The way the Western media and Western swimmers are treating Sun Yang is just disgusting. I don't care that he's an asshole, this kind of unsportsmanship against any swimmer is unacceptable. Let CAS decide what happened and keep this kind of drama outside the World Championships. There are rules that everyone should follow and all Western swimmers should trust the system.
  11. I guess this is the time when I say that it's better for Italy that this is happening here and not one year later in Tokyo.
  12. Meanwhile the men's foil Olympic ranking is a bit of a clusterfuck, because Egypt and Canada will likely "steal" two spots from the teams that ended up in the Top8 at the WCh.
  13. I mean, if there's one event that you win, it must be the Men's foil team event, right?
  14. So the Men's Foil team event is Italy's last chance to not finish without a gold medal for the for the first time at a full WCh since 1987.
  15. That 5th place saved the last day of the WCh for us. We will either have to fight for the European spot with Ukraine at the World Cup events, or we will both be in Tokyo if Tunisia helps us by not attending the World Cup.
  16. I just don't understand what is happening with this team. They let their opponents to have huge leads, and then they try to come back. This time it was successful after 14-25, like against Poland. HUN-CHN 45-41.
  17. LOL we did it again, 37-37 after 14-25.
  18. Well, let's hope that Tunisia won't be in the Top16 at the WC events, because it looks like that's our only chance...
  19. This probably means that Hungary and Ukraine will fight for an Olympic spot if Tunisia won't be in the Top16 (or if France, Italy and Russia all end up in the Top4).
  20. lol, Pusztai had an amazing last period again (14-5), but it wasn't enough this time. It's a shame that she and Márton can't fence like this in the other periods...
  21. Top 10 nations at the WCh after 10 events 1. Russia - 858,25 pts 2. Italy - 763 pts 3. France - 731,25 pts 4. South Korea - 721 pts 5. Hungary - 606,88 pts 6. Ukraine - 587 pts 7. China - 552 pts 8. United States - 505,75 pts 9. Japan - 443,38 pts 10. Germany 394,01 pts
  22. Men's epee Olympic team ranking 1. France - 203 pts 2. Switzerland - 174 pts 3. Ukraine - 151 pts 4. Russia - 145 pts 5. China - 144 pts 6. South Korea - 140 pts 7. Italy - 136 pts 8. Japan - 122 pts 9. United States - 116 pts 10. Hungary - 116 pts 11. Kazakhstan - 105 pts 12. Denmark - 104 pts 13. Estonia - 100 pts 14. Israel - 99 pts 15. Cuba - 88 pts 16. Morocco - 80 pts
  23. btw, the Olympic qualification is simply ruthless. Popescu is currently 10th in the individual ranking and she wouldn't qualify for Tokyo.
  24. 4. The 4 best results count for every team out of the 5 events. But Poland will get easier draws than us at the WC events because they have a higher world ranking, so I doubt that we can catch them. I think our team is simply not strong enough to consistently get into the Top8 at the WC events.
  25. Women's foil Olympic team ranking 1. Russia - 256 pts 2. Italy - 184 pts 3. United States - 180 pts 4. France - 176 pts 5. Japan - 160 pts 6. Canada - 142 pts 7. South Korea - 130 pts 8. Poland - 114 pts 9. China - 110 pts 10. Germany - 109 pts 11. Hungary - 105 pts 12. Hong Kong - 100 pts 13. Ukraine - 91 pts 14. Spain - 85 pts 15. Singapore - 76 pts 16. Austria - 73 pts
