I see it as the quota will be reallocated as below, as in how quotas that were won in Olympic Qualification Events will be reallocated.

The 8th quota would just go to the highest ranked non-qualified nation, there won't be 8 play-off matches.

It's not so much that I know a lot of field hockey, just that realistically speaking there's about 17 nations fighting for 12 spots in both genders and even then that could be generous.

Pakistan's best hope would be for Japan to win and then hope for them to draw Ireland (or Canada, depending on the World Rankings at the time) in the intercontinental qualifiers. They must also hope that Argentina wins the Pan American quota, if not, their easiest opponent will then be New Zealand or Spain.

Roller sports doesn't need too many quotas to work. 12-16 athletes per event plus it likely needs to be an outdoor venue in order to save costs.

Fortnite came out last year and is ranked 11th in worldwide prize pools, if things continue it'd be one of the top games by next year. There's also the issue of companies releasing sequels before the Olympics, how would they handle a Dota 3 or League of Legends 2? If they are successful there may not be too many high level people playing the prequels. Yeah, six years is practically a generation in gaming, at least with two years you have a general idea of what's coming out.

I imagine motorsports would be like sailing where everyone uses the same car/bike. As for esports another issue it faces is the ever changing landscape of games played, especially among sport games which sees releases every year. What's popular also changes quite rapidly which makes it challenging to pick which games will be featured at least two years in advance.

It won't be the end of the world if Japan wins. India/China/South Korea are all capable of qualifying through the world qualifiers, though the matches will be difficult with opponents as Ireland, United States, Belgium or even each other being very possible

For clarification weightlifting was left as is while in karate I only removed the lightest weightclass as I cannot combine the two heavier weightclasses. Is anyone else a bit disappointed with Kazakhstan's performance? They are usually safely in the top 5, but they have been stuck with bronze medals, but even then their total medal haul is low. They still have boxing (though without their heavier weights they have been relatively struggling) and canoeing to try to move up the table.

Qatar is definitely less blatant about buying athletes now. It's still happening, but a lot of athletes are now either born there or enter the country as children due to their family immigrating for work.

Big upsets in mixed team recurve archery. By reaching the finals North Korea is guaranteed the Olympic quota since Japan will have the host quota. It'll be very unlikely that North Korea will win a team quota in both the men's and women's events at the 2019 World Championship so Mongolia is out of luck despite defeating South Korea.

France is quickly turning into one of those countries where they only care if they have a chance at winning a medal, completely ignoring that athletes typically don't go from unknown to world champs overnight.

Since the 2019 Archery World Championship will have a higher priority the bronze medal match in the men's recurve will likely decide who qualifies. While Indonesia will likely qualify in the women's recurve regardless of the result in the final.
