    We got a 20km Race Walk! A scenic tour round the historic beauty of the stadium car park.

    The risk/benefit calculations are definitely different for us oldies than for younger people. But anybody that says they know exactly is not telling the truth. During my early career I had some marginal involvement with AIDS campaigns & it was a long time between the disease being first diagnosed - circa 81-82 - until we reached the full modern understanding of how it worked - circa 88-89. So we are still only on the foothills with COVID.

    There is an ES International which is a common feed with dubbed languages, but also British, French, German etc. If we in Britain want to watch canoeing we have to go to International, because British is always showing motorbikes, snooker etc.

    Breakaway is breaking up, attacking each other with 40k to go. Definite win for the break with a 13 min lead.

    Think that’s right: apart from the 4-5 GC teams, the rest now see getting their best rouleur into the break as their best chance if a win.

    More likely to be a breakaway day than a sprint. Not many sprint teams left & they want to save energy for the mountains.

    British have a big team, but no Olympic double-ups. Anyone who is dual-qualified is going to Tokyo. We’ve even had some late withdrawals to fill up the Olympic relay squads. There’s a bit of a philosophical difference, I’ve noticed - East European athletes often warm up for a major by doing a full event at a minor like the U-23s or Universiade.

    Problem with echelons in the TdF is that they go through so many towns. So teams work hard to create the gap, get it, then they go through a sheltered town centre & everyone gets back on.
