It looks like the IIHF is sticking with 3-on-3 overtime for all events moving forward.

Safe Dragonfly got a reaction from Surlympics in 2026 Winter Olympics - Day 16 (February 22)
As a hockey fan, keep an eye on Connor Bedard, Matthew Schaefer, and Gavin McKenna. And Macklin Celebrini's only going to get better by 2030. Sebastian Cossa also has potential to be an excellent goaltender as well.

Yea was able to see on some articles what happened from the post-game presser and yeaaaaaa didn't look like anyone was happy. Even Beijing's didn't seem to have this bad of vibes. Like even after Beijing, David Shoemaker said he was "satisfied" with the performance, and it doesn't look like he said anything along those lines this time.
It's nice to see everyone in the country united on an issue though, maybe that'll finally lead to changes.

Safe Dragonfly got a reaction from intoronto in Post-2026 Olympics Press Conference by the Canadian Olympic Committee
Thought this was a nice presser, I think summed up how all of us felt about the Olympics this time.
But man oh man, this was pretty depressing, especially compared to Beijing where Shoemaker seemed happy about the performance then.
Feel free to share your thoughts.

Safe Dragonfly reacted to Josh in Totallympics after Milano Cortina 2026 - Will you keep visiting Totallympics before the next Olympic Games?
Hey everyone , now that the Olympics are over just wanted to make an announcement that I'll be taking a break from posting on Totallympics for the most part, and watching sports. Mentally these games have broke me in so many ways, and I need time to reset. Not sure for how long, at least a week, but I'll be back for the Paralympics.
I thought taking time to reflect over the past week and a half, it would make Grondin's silver feel better, it didn't at all. I still think about it all the time and it hurts. Just upset, frustrated, and disappointed that he was a photo finish away from gold... again, and I'd trade half of our medals for the colour to be changed.
Not to mention Canada only won 21 medals, 5-7-9, which is our lowest total since Salt Lake City 2002 with less events, but whatever I got used to it half a week ago...

David Shoemaker said the funds flushed into the system ahead of the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver are now only an echo: “We’re now on the downside of that investment.”

Maybe all of this could happen this year perhaps and we might finally see some progress. I dunno who in the COC really is satisfied with how we did this year.
Even if it does end up happening, it’s a shame that we had to have a really bad Olympics overall to finally get things going in terms of funding

It’s kind of a good thing we lost. If we would have won the gold it would have nullified how terrible these Olympics were for Canada. Now they are more likely to actually do something about the state of our winter sports programs.

Hey guys, just came by to let you know it was tough to see the Hockey final and I guess you are quite disappointed by Canada's overall performances in these Olympics. But huge congrats to @Topicmaster1010 and all users to make this club so active during the Games, it was by far the most active club of the Olympics.
Keep up the amazing job and now that the Olympics are over, let's focus on LA28!

Canadian Olympic Committee Launches “Team Canada 2035” 10-Year Strategic Plan Ahead of Milano Cortina 2026 Type: Press Release
Topic: General
Year: 2026
TORONTO (January 26, 2026) – The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is proud to announce Team Canada 2035, a new, 10-year strategic plan designed to strengthen the COC’s mission to transform Canada through the power of sport.
Team Canada 2035, which has the unanimous backing of the Canadian sport system, represents a more than $500-million private investment in sport over the next decade, driven primarily by the COC’s 39 marketing partners and COF donors.
The COC made the announcement this morning as Team Canada opened the market at the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), joined by Olympians and representatives from the COC’s marketing partners and Canadian Olympic Foundation (COF) donors.
Team Canada 2035 is built around three ambitious pillars, each of which aims to help position Canada as one of the world’s leading sporting nations. These are:
Podium: Becoming a Top 5 nation by combined medal count at both Summer and Winter Olympic Games. Play: Inspiring and engaging 1-million more young people to participate in organized sport. Planet: Championing climate action to preserve our sporting environments.
These goals were developed in consultation with the Canadian sport system, and will be delivered in collaboration with National Sport Organizations (NSOs) and other sport partners, the COC’s marketing partners, and many others across the sport ecosystem. In bringing these to life, the COC seeks to elevate the Canadian sport system — ensuring it is better funded, coordinated, and more sustainable, all while continuing to champion safe, inclusive, and barrier-free sport for all participants so we can be a Team Canada that reflects Canada.
Investing in a Bold New Vision for Sport
Over the next decade, the COC is committed to expanding its impact on the sport system by focusing its resources where they will matter most. Highlights of the COC’s current planning aligned with the Team Canada 2035 strategy include:
Sustained funding for National Sport Organizations, with the aim of partially addressing the persistent challenges faced by Canada’s NSOs. New innovative high-performance supports, such as training camps to support athletes on the road to Los Angeles 2028 and French Alps 2030, and expanding programs like RBC Training Ground, which aims to find and fund the next generation of Canadian Olympians. Driving youth participation in organized sport. The COC has already made an initial commitment of $3.5-million to launch a participation incubator, working with NSOs to build or expand sport programs and increase collaboration with equity serving groups and Indigenous sport governing bodies. Complementing this work are marketing partner programs, like the exciting new Bell Starting Line program designed to support newcomer youth participation in sport. Advancing climate action commitments. As outlined in the COC Climate Action Plan, the COC is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 50% by 2030, towards net zero by 2040, and supporting NSOs and athletes on sustainability initiatives. Supporting the holistic needs of athletes. Team Canada 2035 holds athletes at its centre, and aims to support athletes both on and off the field of play. This includes aligning efforts across programs like Game Plan, physical and mental health and wellness supports, and other existing direct-to-athlete supports like the OLY Canada Legacy Grant, the Team Canada Podium Awards and Great to Gold initiative through the COF. And building on marketing partner programs such as the Petro-Canada FACE Program, Air Canada Podium Program, Sobeys Feed the Dream, Smith School of Business MBA grants, Goodlife Fitness complimentary gym memberships, and others.
