    I think I disagree with your sailing prediction of 3 golds. The men’s Finn event which GB won gold at every games 2000-2020 isn’t in the Olympics anymore. Also gone is the woman’s 470 which GB won in 2016, 2020 and silver in 2012. So that’s 2 reliable events for you guys that isn’t going to be in Paris. You will likely still win a gold in sailing tho but can’t see 3

    He will probably head into Paris as the favourite but there is no margin for error in a 50m race. It’s probably one of the races which anything could happen, maybe an upset

    There’s for sure areas where we are weaker than Tokyo in swimming tho. Woman’s 50f (sjostrom) zsc in the 200 (that Chinese dude) and the woman’s medley are 3 events to which I think we will struggle to defend our golds. But then there a similar amount as you mentioned where we have a better chance so it basically evens out. It will be interesting for sure

    I am hopeful that Australia can do similar to Tokyo. For us to have a rio/london type performance our swimming team will need to choke extremely badly. Outside of swimming we always win a certain amount of gold. So far I’m feeling good but Olympics is a different ball game. It’s so exciting for sure. I am a bit concerned about rowing atm

    It’s just so flawed it’s crazy. The burden is always on either Aus or Uk to host it, don’t really ever see Canada or New Zealand doing as much to try and host. No disrespect intended to our kiwi friends but I don’t think they can host a major sporting event at this scope without co-hosting with Australia.

    The government doesn’t want to build a new stadium because of $$$ and they know how this will impact votes 🗳️🗳️. It’s all about these stupid politicians playing their annoying games, rather than making proper decisions to ensure we can host it well

    Yes I highly doubt either would cancel as that would be extremely embarrassing for reputation but I think it’s more of a political thing with the stadiums and what to do in that regard. I’m not sure if both sides will agree with the Gabba decision, whether to redevelop it or not. The opposition hasn’t made their position clear yet. It will be interesting to see it unfold over the next months

    As an Australian I must say that every decision so far and in the future in regards to these games is and has been extremely political, aimed at nothing but short term votes. It’s worth noting that there’s an election in this state in the upcoming months as well, and hence influenced this decision.

    Even if she did qualify she was never really in the chance for a medal or anything. It was just all for media story and attention of how she would be competing in 2 sports. Its not that deep

    honestly realistically there is heaps of favourites, but only a handful of locks. Upsets happen so often at the Olympics so I’d be more interested in a page predicting upsets.
