    The problem were just Iraq and Indonesia, let's be honest. Uzbekistan, KSA have no problem playing Israel.

    Think about any of these smaller european nations that have rather strong sporting performances, Greece, Croatia, Romania, etc Would they be just as strong as they are if they were instead located in, say, central Africa, south america or the middle of the pacific ocean?

    The Philippines were a Spanish colony for some time. A lot of filipinos have hispanic names as a result and their language has a lot of imported words from spanish.

    Leithold threw away a quota in a shoot-off as well for Tokyo I believe. If there is a shoot-off, sudden death, golden point, whatever in these tense individual sports always expect the to drop the ball.

    I know little about the technical aspects of this sport but surely our guy, with those paper-thin arms he has, was not making the best decision delaying his shooting so many seconds... basically threw the set on 3-3 (when he only needed an 8) and the shoot-off by doing that.

    Qualification should be like in Judo. The best 16 (1x country) get in, period. If some continent is not represented, deduct 1 quota from that top 16 until all of them are.

    The best player of (Marcos Moneta) suffered a fibula fracture in the first minute of the first match in Hong Kong. Unless the injury is more serious than speculated (more studies pending) he's in time for Paris. But seeing the team playing relatively poorly without him could mean two rough stages are ahead.
