  1. Argentina Entry Los Abuelos de la Nada - Costumbres Argentinas Costumbres Argentinas is a song written by singer Andres Calamaro back in 1985 when he was part of a band named Los abuelos de la nada ("the grandpas of nothingness"). It is a very iconic song of the 80s argentine rock and one of my personal favorites, hope someone else likes it too. English Translation
  2. No, no, there are two +50K Stadiums in the city (both River and Boca's stadiums). The thing is they don't have the A standard or whatever it's called that the modern stadiums you see in Europe have. Both stadiums are quite old and haven't had improvements in 2 decades at least.
  3. What you have to understand about the ceremonies is that in the city we don't have a single big +50K stadium with the modern standards required by IOC. Obviously building one from scratch wasn't an option because of cost, but the original plan was to do updates to one of the existing ones. However, all football clubs who own the big stadiums didn't want to collaborate with this because they didn't want to move elsewhere for a year or so. So, the organizers came up with this bullshit opening ceremony in the street (because they had no other option). But because of the utter chaos that the set up for it is causing in traffic these days, they can only do it once (for the opening) and the closing was just discarded.
  4. Not kidding, there will be just some handover ceremony without cameras or something like that and that will be it.
  5. I told you Ajax was good this season. They even had the best chances to win. Really nice football with young energetic players.
  6. 4 days to go... There is almost no interest from the media in this games however all olympic passes available (a little more than 600,000) have already been distributed. So, probably we will see games with little media impact but with full venues for every event. The venues are mostly shitty because they aren't real stadiums, just training centres which they added temporary stands to (and the only real indoor stadium for 10K people in the area of olympic park will be used for... storage...). The opening ceremony will be pathetic and isn't worth my time (I don't care about ceremonies anyway) and I don't want to talk about the closing ceremony not being held because organization ran out of budget... I just hope the park will be good when I go there and that the queues for the popular events aren't too insane, my expectations are low.
  7. Very likely that given their ranking both teams would draw a very tough opponent (as in, one ranked 4 to 6). If it were just one match there would be a little hope but in a home and away playoff I would say such opponent is almost impossible to beat for both Poland teams.
  8. So, nobody is winning medals apparently. Where will those medals go then? To Swaziland??
  9. We didn't win anything, that guy is french. I have no clue why we still let him represent us... he doesn't live in Argentina and can't go to pan american games or olympic games. We have literally no benefit from him and he gets benefit from us. Unless he's paying our federation it doesn't make any sense. What gives
  10. Yes, I predicted Serbia like a fool so my chance to win is gone. Now I need a Brazil win to salvage a medal because I have like 10 people that can catch me behind and probably all of them predicted USA.
  11. If someone wants to have a good laugh just click on the profile pick of our setter Galiano... it's just... I can't believe a woman with that fitness plays for our national team The team.. pathetic again. But luckily this WCh will be over soon.
  12. Our team is no measure. It's the weakest Argentina in 5 years and the coach is a senile old man that left home one of our only 2 good players because she criticized him. Netherlands will win easily, mark my words

  15. Absolutely not. I expected both in top 6 but not in the final.
  16. My final prediction: 4/5 golds and 10-15 medals overall. High chances in all 6 teams sports events. High chances in sailing and rowing. Good chance in boys beach volleyball. Swimming 400/800FR girls for sure, but color will depend in the opponents that come. In Athletics shot put boys and maybe pole vault are best chances. Probably some 3-4 random medals in combat sports, canoeing, equestrian, shooting, etc given the size of our team and the format of those events.
  17. That is one in a lifetime happening, like psg-barcelona in football. Normally it doesn't happen.
  18. It's impossible to say. This match isn't completely serious either, you don't play the same as every day knowing you can't make any mistake from start to finish, like Italy had to.
  19. Italy out, and fast. Too much pressure.
  20. Probably FIVB would say "we needed more matches" or something. With quarterfinals they had no excuse, they only lose 2 matches and it was 200% more fair for everyone.
  21. It was so easy to have 8 teams advancing from the previous round and make a normal quarterfinals but no, we have this joke with teams playing reserves, uneven schedules and points calculation.
