No worries, honestly, no offence was taken at all, just thought it was useful to show it on the forum. All good.
the problem is they have to put him somewhere, and anywhere else is a bloody liability too.
Honstly I think you're being a bit harsh on him, he's probably just as good a 100 Flyer atm as Guy based on Jimmy's form so far this season in the 100 Fly. Putting Joe on the medley or mixed medley heats is fine.
The fact that Guy's entered in the 100 Fly individually makes me think they'll swim Joe in the mixed medley heats because heats of the mixed medley is on the same day as the heats/semis of the 100 Fly - I'm guessing GB will compare their respective times and whoever's quicker gets the spot for the men's medley relay.

I'm still going to cling to my hope that they give it to Zoe, or is the squad fixed at the 4 named in the road race (so can only be Deignan / Georgi/ Morris)?...
You can't only do the ITT; you have to compete in another event also which means Zoe wouldn't be allowed to do the ITT. Georgi may be given the spot.

I mean Guy is our best fly swimmer in theory, so on that front it makes sense.
But Whittle is arguably only 6th in the 100 free at the moment. I get Scott dropping it but I'm surprised it didn't go to Dean or Cohoon instead (less so Cohoon with him having the 50). Dean's schedule especially is not heavy this time around without the 200m free.
I worry greatly if we put Joe in the freestyle relay. In order of relay safety, I'd say the 200m free is the safest to have him in, then the medley and then the freestyle.
Whittle is our 5th best 100 Freestyler out of those going to Paris. Dean likely didn't get the spot after Scott dropped it as the heats and semis of the 100 Free somewhat ridulously are on the same day as the 4x2, I'm guessing GB don't want to hinder the potential Gold opportunity in that relay and asked Dean not to swim the 100 Free.
After Litchfield's disaster split in the 4x1 Free in Tokyo I severely doubt they'll put him on that relay again. Imo they'll use 5 swimmers for that relay just like they were planning on doing at Fukuoka Worlds last year with Richards - Cohoon - Whittle - Dean in the heats of that relay with Scott replacing the slowest split for the final. If GB are gonna use a 6th swimmer for this relay it'll be Mr. reliable James Guy.

Hayter won the European championships this year on count back in the final race. Even a single extra point for Larsen would have beaten him.
He’s favourite, but no way is he a lock
True, although I will say that he normally tends to start his seson slowly and build into it, he was much better at the nations cup in Miton and should be better still in Paris.

Keirin is such a lottery that I can see Lavreijsen not win it definitely. I can’t really remember a top international Keirin performance by Finucane, she will win the sprint (and battle the team sprint out with the Germans) but I can’t see her take the Keirin from the likes of Friedrich, Andrews and Bayona.
Yeah Keirin's a lottery, my post was more about their definite Gold chances in the individual sprint. Finucane definitely the underdog against Friedrich and especially Andrews in that but definitely not impossible for her to beat them.

Only 2 men, but that’s more than enough.
I consider Fallon, Stubblety Cook, Marchand (If he decides to swim it) and Watanabe all Gold medal threats, all been Sub 2:07 in the last 12 months or so. Qin's only been a 2:08.8 so far this year.

In terms of track cycling there are a few near locks I can think of:
Harrie Lavreysen : Men's Individual Sprint
- A couple of years ago he was challenged by the Aussie Richardson but he's been a class apart from everyone for the last 18 or so months. Right now I'd pick him to win 3 Golds with the individual sprint a near lock.
Emma Finucane: Women's Individual Sprint
- Has dominated this event this past year. Set the fastest Flying 200m time not on altitude at the world champs last year with a 10.2. Still only 21 so will only improve and like Lavreysen is also destined for greatness in Paris imo with 3 Golds not out of the equation for her too.
Ethan Hayter: Men's Omnium
- Been tremendous in this discipline ever since Tokyo, In fact I don't even think he's lost an omnium he's competed in since Tokyo (not completely sure, happy to be proven wrong). - One thing I will say about the omnium though is that crashes and luck do sometimes play a major part so I'm much more confident in the previously mentioned riders.

Is she that big of fave?
Yes.

Wouldn't say Qin is a lock for either event. I believe he had an injury a few months ago and Peaty looks to be back in the 100, with many men close in the 200.

Men's 100m Freestyle:
Another strong event for GB with possibly 6 athletes competing for 4 relay spots. Richards should take one of the individual spots and will probably be joined by either Dean or Scott.
Men's 50m Freestyle:
Ben Proud should be a shoe-in for selection so it is just a question whether anyone will be joining him. Best chance probably will be with Richards or Burras.
Honestly in the 100 I think Whittle could sneak the 2nd spot behind Richards. The switch to the Bath performance Centre looks to be working wonders for him; he went 46.3 at European Short Course Champs in December despite having pretty horrific starts and underwaters. Between him or Scott for that second spot imo, Dean's 100 Free hasn't looked great the last 18 months.
