  1. And the local authorities seem to back the idea of Guadalajara being considered as the replacement host: https://x.com/for_ortega13/status/1742721175959023981?s=46&t=9vS5uQBNQ2F0H_cquGNQGQ
  2. The main problem, as with the Olympics, is the demand for large, new state of the art venues, plus the costs of building an athletes village, that could only realistically building a main one, with smaller "satellite" village as part of urban renovation/public housing proyects. Other than that, I think that regional projects could work better, with 2 or 3 main cities in the same country hosting the events.
  3. Agree. Paraguay is a no go for the "senior" Panam Games. It's either return to Lima or Miami, if they gather local support. I'd love to have them back in Guadalajara, most of the venues remain in place, the exception being the athletics stadium (although they could use temporal stands in the small venue they had for last year's Gay Games) and the athletes village (but with the local governments being in a vertical rise bonanza, it could be solved with one or two urbanizations).
  4. In Mexico you have 3 traditions, depending to which part of the country you live. Central and Southern Mexico are more team “Reyes” so kids there expect to find their gifts on January 6th. Northern Mexico is team “Santa” in larger cities, but the rural areas also celebrate the Wise Men. And mi city, is the only ones where kids write a letter to Baby Jesus asking for gifts.
  5. Merry Christmas to those who celebrate the holiday! Hope you enjoy(ed)/are enjoying the festivities with your loved ones, and receive lots of hugs and gifts. My best wishes for you.
  6. Renata Zarazua wins Montevideo 125! First win for a Mexican women in singles
  7. Well, no surprises, as Australia also gets the quotas in women’s springboard (Georgia Sheehan) and men’s platform (Samuel Fricker).
  8. 1st day quotas: Men’s springboard: Shixin Li Women’s Springboard: Nikita Hains Well, surprise, surprise the Aussies get both quotas. Hains and Li performed better than the rest of the small field, there’s no doubt, although in women’s competition the other athletes had rather forgettable performances, and in men’s, Liam Stone from New Zealand is not in best physical shape, carrying a slight injury. Let’s see if tomorrow can snatch the quota in women’s springboard.
  9. I hate airconditioned spaces, as they hurt my throat very easily. Even long flights can make me get as ore throat.
  10. Correct, and yet, many Mexicans don't know what's the celebration about, particularly those under 25.
  11. Don't you worry, you're well informed to know that Mexican independence was achieved on 1821. 85% of Mexicans don't know it
  12. In all fairness: Mecano is one of my favorite bands in Spanish, so it was defined from the beginning that a top 12 for them was guaranteed. And for the record, Mexican independence wars started with a priest rallying the peasants to the cry: "Long Live Ferdinand the VIIth", plus the "Spirit of '21" was in fact a reactionary movement to avoid the rule of the Liberal regime that took power in Spain that same year.
  13. Mexico Calling! And finally, the top position is for: ESP - 12 Points POL - 11 Points USA - 10 Points SWE - 9 Points FRA - 8 Points ITA - 7 Points CZE - 6 Points CAN - 5 Points BRA - 4 Points MLT - 3 Points GBR - 2 Points NED - 1 Points Just wanted to acknowledge the great job of our host @Olympian1010 To all participants, I wish you luck and see you next time.
