  1. That’s another good point, they could actually allow composite teams from NOC’s with 2 divers, but so far, they seem reluctant to do so. The only thing I really would dread is if they replace the men/women synchro, with mixed events.
  2. I think it’s a little premature, as I don’t think they could have the criteria selection for each NOC, but I may be wrong.
  3. At least 11 of the synchro competitors will have to be nominated to compete also in the individuals, her chances are slim. From the divers left out in the prelims, I’d think has a good chance to be there, but only after synchro I could speculate more.
  4. Unfortunately, no, according to the qualification system; but WA could allow the host to have a competitor in each individual event if they are selected for synchro.
  5. I’ve always thought that giving the hosts and automatic quota in synchro is unfair, as more deserving teams have been left out since Rio.
  6. For women platform, we have 16 places reserved for synchro ( & ) and 15 other previous qualifiers. Out of , the top 3 in the final will have their places secured, while next four in the order (even if not all of them get in the final) are likely to also advance as the Chinese, Toulson & Schnell most surely compete in individual and synchro. For the others they will have to wait to see which countries qualify in synchro before anything else could be determined; currently last one with a mathematical chance of qualifying (according to me) is Dawson, although it seems unlikely.
  7. I would give him a decent chance, he’s become more solid. Of course he needs to put the synchro behind, so his mind doesn’t deprive him of another Olympic ticket.
  8. Still possibilities for Ukraine and South Korea
  9. Yes they are. Italian pair just needs to execute their dive ”just good”, not perfect and they’re in. Mexico and Spain need to have a more solid execution, same as Poland Pitty for the German pair, pleasantly surprised by the Croats
  10. Flop by the US in one of the lifts and yet they manage to end top 6 😂 Someone bought Mays a ticket to Paris
  11. And yet they aren’t near a safe spot for the final. Unlike previous Olympic process, this one will be very hard for some countries.
  12. Quotas aside, Mariana Aguilar from Mexico finished top 10 for the second year in a row 😃 I hope she can also be in the medal race at the Olympics.
  13. Good result and quota for . Now I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Paulo Strehlke to win another quota tomorrow.
  14. Great result for Osmar Olvera, probably our best competitor going to Paris. He adds this gold to the couple of silvers he earned last year; I just pray he doesn’t fall for the traps of the opportunistic media and scoundrels that live off others fame, and that he doesn’t get a breakdown with any expectations Mexican fans get from this result.
  15. Good start for Mexican divers: Aranza Chavez made it in the 1m final and Paola Pineda was just .10 short of it, finishing 13 in the prelims. And Silver in the team event, not that far from the Brits, which confirms this team can try for bigger things.
  16. Great prelim competition for her so far, she was really focused and it showed her talent, impressive
  17. Nice bronze medal in mixed skeet for Mexico
  18. Some “unusual” competitors in diving entries:
  19. British male ice dancer has Mexican ancestry; his given name “ATL” means water in nahuatl language.
  20. First podium for a Mexican cyclist in a UCI World Tour event: Isaac del Toro finishes third in the general classification and is also the best junior rider
