Just catching up on the results of the weekend - hadn't realised that the mixed relay event had to be called off because of the air quality.

Yeah - I think this is probably just another symptom of how poorly designed the results site has been for these games.

So in all 7 of the HSBC events, the bracket structure was Quarterfinal 1: Winner pool B vs best third place team Quarterfinal 2: Winner pool C vs second pool A Quarterfinal 3: Second pool B vs second pool C Quarterfinal 4: Winner pool A vs second best third placed team And then semi finals would be winners of QF1 v QF2 and QF3 v QF4

And yet that's not how the bracket matches are arranged at the HSBC Rugby 7s events.

End of day 4 and over half of the weight classes are now at quarter-final stage. Turkey move to the top of the standings having lost no bouts today. They currently have 11 boxers still in the competition - including all 6 women. Italy lost a couple of close decisions today, so they move to 10 fighters still in with a chance of quota. Ireland's women continue to move serenely through the draw with all 6 still in contention although they did lose another male boxer today. Their total is now 9. France didn't lose anyone today so still have 9 fighters in play. Ukraine and Poland both have 8 fighters left. GBR lost another 2 bouts today to leave them with 7 fighters still in with chance of qualifying - 4 on the women's side and 3 on the mens.

That was just an embarrassing performance from GB They couldn't even kick the ball off the field to end the game cleanly.

Jeez are struggling in the first half to put away - just 2 points in it at half time. If Germany can keep their heads, they could just sneak this.

She didn't look great in her last bout and in this one she looked really sluggish.

OK so I tried, but after 5 minutes watching breaking, found myself having urges to gouge my eyes out and had to switch off. It's an embarrassment that this is deemed worthy of an Olympic spot.

There's no quotas going to world ranking under the IOC qualification pathway although it was included in the original IBA proposal. France can qualify through the European Games and the 1st World Qualifier. After the 1st world qualifier, France will advise which, if any, host quotas they are going to use. Any that aren't used will be allocated through the 2nd world qualifier. Of the 9 weight classes where France could use a host quota, they are still active in 6 - 3 on the men's side and 3 on the women's.

Just noticed this: Kaarle McCulloch to step down as GBCT women's sprint podium coach (britishcycling.org.uk) McCulloch has been a huge asset for Team GB and her departure will be a big blow for them in the run up to Paris. Since the retirement of Victoria Pendleton, we've struggled on the women's sprint side of things, but the team are in a good place for qualification and hopefully can take advantage of the home crowd to bank some big points at the world champs in Glasgow.

All of the weight divisions now down to at least the last 16. Another fairly disappointing performance from Rutter - thankfully she already has her Olympic quota. Hopefully the Llewellin can avoid the same fate when he goes in his semi-final later.

Have a feeling that will mean that GBR will miss out on a quota in the women's pentathlon here. Had expected Bryson to be contending for a top 8 finish given her recent form. Can't see Varley making it out of the second heat unless she can have a stellar run.

Doesn't this mean that the FIE are going to be actively discriminating against European athletes? Unless the ranking points are going to be taken from the other continental events then how is there a level playing field for all athletes looking to secure qualification to Paris?
