  4. By the way, for anyone reading, at this very same meet (Sun Devil Swim Open) she also clocked some exceptional times in other events as well. 57.83 W 100BK, 57.05 100FL, 2:08.48 W 200IM. An incredible athlete, we could potentially be seeing her win more individual gold medals than McIntosh come Worlds.
  5. Olympic Qualification Summary after Day 5 Oceania: Paige Hareb pretty much has the women's quota secured, currently in R4 (Guaranteed T30), with Saffi Vette (Repechage 4) the only other surfer who can knock her out. On the men's side, Billy Stairmand pretty much has the men's quota secured, currently in R5 (Guaranteed T30), with Kehu Butler the only other surfer athlete (Repechage R5) that can knock him out. Africa: Zoe Steyn and Sarah Baum are in contention for the women's quota (Repechage 4), but they need to advance to Repechage 6 (At least), to finish T30. On the men's side, all Teva Bouchouga (Repechage 6) needs to do is not finish fourth, and he qualifies for the Olympics. Otherwise, we'll see a quota reallocation. Europe: Uri Uziel is the only male surfer currently in the main round (R5) but with plenty more Europeans in repechage the quest for the Olympic quota is far from a guarantee. Stanley Norman (Repechage 5), Guilherme Ribeiro (Repechage 5), Joan Duru (Repechage 5), Aritz Aranburu (Repechage 5), Dylan Groen (Repechage 5), Edouardo Papa (Repechage 5), Gonzalo Gutierrez (Repechage 5), Kauili Vaast (Repechage 6), Maxime Huscenot (Repechage 6), Jesse Mendes (Repechage 6), and Frederico Morais (Repechage 6) are all still in contention, with perhaps the strongest surfers coming from France and Portugal. On the women's side, Rachel Presti , Noah Klapp , Pauline Ado , Tiara van der Huls , Vahine Fierro , and Francisca Veselko are the six surfers still competing in main round (R4), with Emily Gussoni , Garazi Sanchez , Indiana Ferri , Noa Lelior , Alys Barton , Lucy Campbell , Anat Lelior , Giada Legatti , Ariane Ochoa , Camilla Kemp , and Nadia Erostarbe all still in contention in repechage (R4). France, Portugal, Israel and Germany are the favorites for the quota here. Asia: Shina Matsuda is the only female athlete currently in the main round (R4), with Mahina Maeda , Yaomei Wu , Amoro Tsuzuki , Siqi Yang , and Vea Estrellado all in repechage (R4). On the men's side, Reo Inaba , Rio Waida , and Kanoa Igarashi are in the main round (R5), with Taichi Wakita , and I Ketut Agus in the repechage (Repechage 5).

  20. Absolute disaster for Canada Both Sanoa and Erin lost in R2, and are off to repechage already. (To be completely fair though, Sanoa's heat was quite possibly one of the hardest round two heats, but still would've been nice to see her advance). Mathea advanced through to R3, but she had an easy heat (Maeda, Cope, Pioli) so I'm not entirely convinced. For our men, Cody Young placed second in his R2 heat, behind Spain's Aranburu, and advanced. Wheeler and Levi didn't fare so well, and are off to repechage (Thought they were easier heats, but they still failed to advance unfortunately)

  24. Some surprises today on the men's side as Ramzi Boukhiam and Joao Chianca both place third in their heats, and are already off to the repechage rounds
