  12. Sarah Pavan/Molly McBain through to the semifinals at the BPT Challenge in Chiang Mai, Thailand! First time into the medal rounds for this partnership!
  13. Did some research, hadn’t realized that Canada still hasn’t won an Olympic gold in judo. Christa Deguchi and Jessica Klimkait are very easily the top two judoka in the women’s 57kg weightclass. Klimkait won bronze at Tokyo 2020, but a super disappointing one at that. She was ranked #2 in the world at the time (Deguchi was #1, but of course due to the stupid one athlete per NOC rule she wasn’t competing) and being the reigning World Champion she was coming in as the favourite.
  14. For the most likely sports would have to be breaking and 3x3 basketball. Philip Kim (I refuse to call him Phil Wizard) has won three consecutive World Championships medals (silver in 2021, gold in 2022, silver in 2023) and is the current Pan American Games and Pan American Championships gold medalist. Our 3x3 basketball team of Michelle Plouffe, Katherine Plouffe, Kacie Bosch, and Paige Crozon has been on a tear the past few seasons. Winning stop after stop on the Women’s Series. Disappointing quarterfinal exit for them at this years FIBA 3X3 World Cup, but we had a tough draw facing France, it could’ve gone either way. 30/34 wins this season for the foursome, 30/33 wins last season (excluding the meaningless 3x3 canada quest tournament and the big 12 tournaments) If Erin Brooks can get her Canadian citizenship in time to qualify for the Olympics, she could be a medal threat in women’s surfing as well. Silver medalist at the 2023 ISA Worlds, U16 gold medalists at the 2022 ISA Junior Worlds, and widely regarded as the next big surfing star.
  15. Can’t find a thread that suits what I have to say, so I’ll just post it here. From now on I’ll be updating all winter sport results (if I have time) in the following sports: curling (slams and any major events ex. European Championships), bobsleigh/skeleton/luge, speed skating, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding. I know that @hckošice does alpine skiing, ski jumping, and hockey, @phelps does ski mountaineering,@maestro does figure skating, and @Dennis does short track speed skating. Can anyone do biathlon, cross country skiing, and nordic combined?
  16. qualifies for Paris in women’s sitting volleyball through the WPV Sitting Volleyball World Cup! Never in doubt, clearly one of the best teams in the world at the moment, and one of the favourites for a medal at next years Paralympics.
  17. Speed Skating World Cup Beijing, China Day 1 Women’s 1500m Gold- Miho Takagi (1:55.52) Silver- Mei Han (1:55.92) Bronze- Qishi Li (1:57.01) Men’s 500m Gold- Wataru Morishige (34.72) Silver- Yuma Murakami (34.82) Bronze- Junho Kim (35.00) Women’s 500m Gold- Erin Jackson (37.91) Silver- Kimi Goetz (37.92) Bronze- Minsun Kim (38.00) Men’s 1500m Gold- Kjeld Nuis (1:44.80) Silver- Patrick Roest (1:45.36) Bronze- Zhongyan Ning (1:45.51) Full Results Terrible start to the WC season for Canada, only two podiums (1 gold, 1 silver) so far, and a very disappointing silver last week in Obihiro in the women’s team pursuit (hadn’t lost a race since before the pandemic)
  18. Men’s 2 Man Bobsleigh World Cup- Yanqing, China Gold- Team Lochner (Johannes Lochner/Georg Fleischauer) (1:58.64) Silver- Team Friedrich (Francesco Friedrich/Alexander Schüller) (1:59.26) Bronze- Team Vogt (Michael Vogt/Sandro Michel) (1:59.54) Full Results
