  1. If NBA can use the term "World Champions" for mere 32 basketball teams from TWO countries (the second having a total of one team) when there actually is a basketball World Championships taking place elsewhere then using the term "World" for a sports competition is not subject to anyone's approval
  2. Gary Anderson had some true words but I presume the media will dissect Littler's life (especially him dating a 21 year old woman) and throw him to the bin when they get bored of his story
  3. It turns out the Spanish anti-doping agency (CELAD) covered positive drug tests since 2017 They send notifications to athletes through paper mail hence the response time lapsed which allowed the entire case to expire. I'm sure firing only the head of the agency will make the case disappear and everything will be fine overnight https://onefootball.com/es/noticias/spanish-anti-doping-agency-have-overlook-positive-drug-tests-of-athletes-38791510 https://www.reuters.com/sports/wada-taking-hard-look-spains-anti-doping-organisation-2024-01-05/
  4. Humphries won 7-4 in the final. I agree with the earlier comments, Littler looks quite older than 16 yo
  5. Kreuzbandriss is torn ACL. I'm afraid that won't be cured with extra big bottles of anything
  6. Wind lottery in Innsbruck qualifying. Dawid Kubacki has gone back to his pre-Horngacher days and serves as the flying sack of potatoes. First time he failed to make the '50' since Engelberg 2014 IIRC.
  7. I'd like to thank @vinipereirafor running this edition and counting the votes!
  8. Meanwhile Petra Kvitova is pregnant and given she will be 34 this year I don't see her coming back tbh. Naomi Osaka won in two sets - over Tamara Korpatsch - on her post-pregnancy return (Brisbane) and Amanda Anisimova also won in two sets - over Pavlyuchenkova - on her post-burnout return (Auckland).
  9. The "car" was an ute so basically a pick-up truck. I don't know how you can accidentally hit your own wife with it, this being a "hit & run" also seems unlikely so I won't be surprised if foul play suddenly becomes the main plot.
  10. Gil de Ferran - 2003 Indianapolis 500 winner and 2x CART champion died at the age of 56.
  11. @rafalgorkaYour take about Spurs in the playoffs doesn't look good. They are the second worst team in the league. The worst are Detroit Pistons who set the record for most consecutive losses during a season last night (27).
  12. Detroit Lions have clinched the NFC North, their first divisional title since 1993 (when they still played in NFC Central). Their current QB1 Jared Goff wasn't even born yet when that happened
  13. Fun fact, electric cars need far more copper & nickel so those mines won't be shut down anytime soon. Good news for Chile & Indonesia! https://www.asiafinancial.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/minerals_IG-1280x720.jpg
  14. 15. I will vote before Sunday if that's still the new deadline. Had a busy month so far
  16. Janusz Gortat - 2x Olympic bronze medallist in boxing and father of future NBA player Marcin Gortat passed away at the age of 75.
  17. Well, so much talk about recording longer ski flying mark than men and now she cites "lack of motivation". She probably realized her best days are behind her and the youngsters will repeatedly beat her.

  19. Las Vegas Raiders beat LA Chargers 63-21 last night and both Chargers GM Telesco & HC Brandon Staley have been fired. It's the most points Raiders have scored in their history and most points allowed by Chargers ever.

  23. And he left the game with a chest injury. I suppose nobody could count on many fantasy points in a 3-0 game anyway Eagles with another blowout loss, this time to Cowboys. Elsewhere Chiefs offense was dire again and Mahomes lost it after a TD was called back on correct offensive offside by WR Toney. I guess they will bring new WR next season since Toney in particular is horse poo this season.
  24. First career podium for Gregor Deschwanden some 12 years after his World Cup debut (Lillehammer 2011). Also the third-oldest first time podium finisher after Jan Matura (Sapporo 2013 winner) and... Pius Paschke from two weeks ago
