  1. That would be fantastic and it would mean that all 3 marathon runners would be from Scotland as well! I think he will be selected, Brendan Foster in commentary said he would select Derek for the third spot, especially since he was over a minute under the tough GB qualification standard.
  2. London Marathon (British Olympic Marathon Trials) Men's Automatic Qualifiers (Top 2 with British Olympic Standard) Callum Hawkins Tsegai Tewelde Derek Hawkins, brother of Callum Hawkins, will have his fate decided by the selectors this evening. He was the 3rd fastest British man and he finished over a second inside the qualification standard. Women's Automatic Qualifiers (Top 2 with British Olympic Standard) Alyson Dixon Sonia Samuels Charlotte Purdue was the 3rd fastest Brit and she finished outside the British Olympic Standard, however this was her marathon debue which may increase the opportunity of being selected tonight.
  3. GB has selected 26 swimmers for Rio 2016, this number is less than the number of athletes with the 'A' standard so this might have an impact on the overall number of GB athletes in the first post.
  4. I am not sure quite what you mean. Are you asking why I don't put the quota for Athletics, Swimming and Cycling by individual event like I have for the other sports? The answer is that each nation is allocated a total number of athlete quota, they can select any MQS athlete in any event to fill the quota. So nobody, not even the IPC, knows specifically which individual events a nation will participate in. Hopefully nearer the games this will be made clear by national federations and I can post entry lists, but I will not change to quota to show each individual athletes event as it will be too time consuming and an entry list at the time can tell you this information
  5. I've posted the quota places in the thread so far, so yes. Why?
  6. Not officially but I can guess: Men's 4x100m Relay - Looks like there will not be a team Men's 4x200m Relay - The top 7 swimmers in the National 200m Final have all qualfied for the team! In order of finals time: Guy, Milne, Renwick, Scott, Kurle, Lloyd, Wallace Men's 4x100m Medley - Guy, Wlker-Hebborn, Peaty/Murdoch ,Scott/Proud Women's 4x100m Relay - Not qualfied Women's 4x200m Relay - Carlin, Faulkner, Coates, Hattersley Women's 4x100m Medley - They didn't pick the 100m Butterfly winner which suggests they will not enter a team.
  7. Overall the GB Team is as expected, it looks like we will not enter the Men's 4x100m Fresstyle Relay as the 3rd and 4th place finishers in the Men's 100m Fresstyle Final have not been selected. I am a little sad that the selectors didn't use one of their wildcards on Luke Greenbank, but overall the selection is positive. It is a young and exciting squad that will be looking to set PBs and NRs in Rio, along with a few medals.
  8. GB Team has been announced: Men's James Guy Adam Peaty Max Litchfield Andrew Willis Ben Proud Ross Murdoch Stephen Milne Robbie Renwick Duncan Scott Craig Benson Chris Walker-Hebborn Tim Shuttleworth Cameron Kurle Ieuan Lloyd Daniel Wallace Women's Jazz Carlin Siobhan-Marie O'Connor Hannah Miley Chloe Tutton Fran Halsall Molly Renshaw Aimee Willmott Eleanor Faulkner Georgia Coates Camilla Hattersley Georgia Davies
  9. No, you scored 8 points overall (that is more than Qatar!)
  10. Updated with final Equestrian and Goalball quotas
  11. These are the official Latin American qualifiers as confirmed by FISA today: M1x - LM2x - W1x - LW2x -
  12. It must be - they have a fair chance for a medal, but it is a small enough nation
  13. South Korea Team Men's Recurve Kim Woojin Ku Bonchan Lee Seungyun Women's Recurve Choi Misun Ki Bo Bae Chang Hye Jin.
  14. I am always a huge supporter of any underdog and I will support all small nations in Rio (unless they are against a British athlete!) but if I have to pick one it'll be... Rwanda
  15. Trinidad and Tobago will participate in Artistic Gymnastics for the first time ever
  16. Wow Brazil scored 6 against Qatar in the first end!! Edit - make that 11-1 now
  17. Where are these quota from? Only the top 2 at the European Qualifiers for Women qualified
  18. I found this on the internet - does this mean Judo have selected their wild card athletes?
  19. The British federation are desperate for great results after the London 2012 flop. Beacuse of this they will most likely accept all relays as great opportunities to get top 6 performances and reach more finals. At the British Trials we had Target Tokyo events, therefore some boarderline young athletes will probably be selected so they can gain an Olympic experience.
  20. Wow, your analysis is amazing. I agree with you about the overall results, they are dissapointing, but I think the selectors have made it clear over the years that if you are close enough you will qualify, therefore many athletes won't have peaked and swam similar times to the Aussies in their trials. Honestly, I doubt there will be many suprises when the team is revealed, and most people on your list will probably be on the plane to Belo Horizonte (the Gb training camp). One positive sign is that people seem to be saving themselves for Rio, building their season steadily with 1 ultimae goal, the Olympics. I agree with your medal predictions but a lot will rely on how well the Aussies and Americans perform on the big stage and whether China up their game as to how many medals we can achieve. The traget for all sports is to equal/beat London 2012 and with 3 medals in London swimming should exceed London 2012 and help to compensate for the anticipated loss of medals in Cycling. Overall I would rather have a rubbish trials and a brilliant games than the other way round, if they put in the effort from here we could have some fantastic results come Rio 2016.

The only 100% qualifiers are the first 8 athletes.
  22. That sounds good! The new merge/split cells function on tables could help for combat/knockout sports: AAAA AAAA AAAA BBBB CCCC DDDD DDDD
