  1. I hope so. I was also hoping Koyama was going to make the same jump, but he wasn't on the start today. Seems that several japanese athletes have decided to take one more week off after the OG.
  2. If Russian racers really are going to be banned from Scandinavian competitions, that blows the women's overall wide open. Even a sprinter can win the globe now. Still I think Jessie has the best chance.
  3. This is the third time this season Salarich has been inside the top 15 in the world cup. He also has several podiums in the european cups. How much longer will he have to start with such a high bib?
  4. A lot of these youngsters don't progress from the youth ranks to the world cup. Most of them quit the sport within a few years. We had a lot of girls who were good in youth rankings but then quit after a season or two in the seniors. I hope the same does not happen with Lena and the others. Winning in this means nothing if you don't have a support structure to help their progress in the seniors. Big nations do ok, but then you have biathletes from Holland, Romania, Canada, Poland, Kazakhstan... who just disappear despite begin jwch champions.
  5. Poor run by Goggia. I think mentally she has so focused on the OG and then the injury came, that she might need some time to get back in shape.
  6. Cisar only the 4th best slovenian. Not surprising since he was transferred to the A team in the summer. Nobody does well in the A team.
  7. Uroš Velepec says it's the end of the season for Ukrainian biathletes. Says some of them have been drafted into the army. https://siol.net/sportal/zimski-sporti/varovanci-slovenskega-trenerja-vpoklicani-v-ukrajinsko-vojsko-573684
  8. In my opinion the wrong decision. Only when he retires our biathlon will finally be able to move forward and the people running it will finally be forced to do something about the stagnation and deterioration that has been happening for the past few years.
  9. Ewa Swoboda will win a medal if she keeps performing like that.
  10. We had the strongest team ever and would have beaten Austria if Slokar finished her run. She was by far the fastest women out there. You just need two to finish which is a joke. No wonder nobody rates this event and only few top racers chose to participate in it. They need to revamp the whole structure, maybe take some pointers from snowboarding team events. A DNF should cost a team at least 0,50s if not the whole second.
  11. Our commentators make it more confusing than it actually is.
  12. The rules to this seem to change everytime I watch. It used to be if I remember right that a team with the fastest time progresses but now it's the total time that counts? In that case we progress. If the fastest time is taken then Canada goes through. Also the blue side has all the wins...
  13. One possible positive test (we will see what the B sample says) shouldn't ban a whole country. Especially now when athletes are tested much more thoroughly than ever before. Russians are under a microscope and if they are doping they will get caught. Let the clean athletes compete for their nation and ban those who do doping. Stop this political nonsense in sports. As for tomorrow, since it's Johaug's last race in the Olympics ever, I expect her to dominate and win another gold.
  14. Germans probably a bit happy too since Markus Kramer is the Russian coach
  15. Their ban ends this year. Starting from 2023 they can compete under their flag again. Finally.
  16. I mean it does though. It's the same as in cycling for example. The ones in front act as a shield to the ones in the peloton. The problem here is that the ones leading are almost always the favourites.
  17. Feeling optimistic that we can medal in this as long as Slokar or Kranjec put up the best time. They should win their duels easily enough, while Robnik and Hrobat will probably lose theirs. So it comes down to the fastest time.
  18. Better than our guy who thought it was Häcki on the ground, when she was shown just a few seconds before running from the exchange area.
  19. With all the problems Eva had this was not bad. It was better than expected really.
  20. So happy for Noel. By far the best slalom skier in the past few season, he just needed to show it on the big stage. And he's only 24!
  21. Peter Prevc really "loves" valentines day. 2015 he won in Vikersund with a WR. 2016 he won again this time with a fall no less. And now he won a silver medal. Source :
  22. Tells a lot about the strength of the field when you put Swiss in 9th with jumpers such as Deschwanden, Ammann and Peier. One bad jump and you're out
