  3. Just a reminder, the World Baseball Classic starts in a few days (March 5-17) and is the only qualification event for the Americas, the two best nations from the Americas qualify. Results Here For Canada, there's a very very small chance of qualifying if the guys can have the tournament of their life. Mexico, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico are the main favourites though.

  4. Before we go all big, are people somewhat familiar with GeoGuessr? Personally I already was for a while, but only recently I started playing every now and then and found it kind of fun. The main premise is super easy: you get a random Streetview image and you have to pinpoint, on a world map, where you are. That can be Times Square, it can be some alley in Rwanda, who knows. You can play alone, of course, but also one on one or in a bigger party. To start a party or another online game, you need a subscription. To join, you don't, you only need the link. I have a subscription, so as far as I am concerned, anyone interested could join and we can go for a couple rounds. Anyone in?

  5. 4th place for Ruby Serouya and 6th place for Louison Dubief in the junior women's 20km mass start. 5th place for Zachari Moreau in the junior men's 20km mass start. Moreau notably was born in 2009 and was the youngest athlete in the top 35.

  9. Of course, we'll qualify some great athletes here. Simone Biles? I doubt she'll return. I think her Olympic story has finished (no disrespect to her...I think she's accomplished everything she wanted to accomplish). Looking forward to seeing how our team develops. Our host country quota only gets us 1 athlete per gender, so we have to place Top 3 in the Team ranking at the 2026 WCh or in the Top 9 (or up to Top 12, depending on who else has qualified) in the 2027 WCh. There's some gymnastics happening later this week...we'll see what goes down!

We're going to have some additional folks competing in archery, and that's not just due to the addition of compound. In Paris, we only had 1 guy (Brady Ellison), but in LA, we get three guys (plus one for the mixed compound). We'll retain the same quota of 3 women, plus another one for mixed compound. The addition of the guys means we also get to participate in Men's Team. These quota are subject to the condition that we enter three+one in the World Archery Championship, but that shouldn't be a problem, I wouldn't think. As a reminder, Brady Ellison won silver in 2024, and Brady+Casey Kaufhold won bronze in the mixed team. (Casey got upset in her individual competition.)

And I think 15-1 is a nice opener.

  12. 10th for Luke Allan in men’s U23 sprint! I actually watched the races, Xavier McKeever was in 2nd and in a qualifying position until the final turn, unfortunately there was some contact between him and the leader and he didn’t advance. Allan definitely has Ry Prior to thank for pushing the pace he went out fast early in the heats and Allan hung on to the last lucky loser spot by a few seconds even though there were still a few heats to go

  13. I will try for Croatia: Archery (1) : we never had a representative, but were two times very close. I think we have a chance in Recurve for a single male quota, and in mixed compound, Realistic one quota Athletics (8) : difficult as many things will change in the next 2-3 seasons, but let's. say 8, I think that could be a realistic number Badminton (1) : hopefully our Indonesian import will manage to qualify Basketball (0): small chances in both male and 3x3 male teams , but somehow I doubt it Boxing (2): two male quotas Canoe slalom (1). maybe with a small chance for two places, but one is realistic Canoe sprint (1): similar to slalom, maybe two, but one is realistic, but lets see how the new qualification system plays out Cycling (2): would bee very happy with a quota in BMX freestyle and male road race Diving (1): hoping that Matej Nevescanin will qualify Fencing (0): very small chance in mens foil, but I guess will not happen. football (0): there is always talks about our male team, but never succeeded, I am afraid will be the same for LA 2028 Artistic gymnastics (4): Kovtun plus two additional male quotes plus one female Handball (14): the mens team should qualify Judo (5): four female quota plus one male Rowing (5). difficult to say as boats/crews are not defined yet. But I expect 4 mens places plus 1 female. Maybe more, but let see Sailing (6): somehow not a good development in this sports, could be even less than 6 quotas. Shooting (5): hopefully two trap and two male rifle quotas plus one surprise Swimming (6): will be brave here and say 5 male plus one female. I think we have a realistic chance to qualify a freestyle relay. Table tennis (5): hope for 3 male and two female quotas incl. mixed doubles (Arapovic/Ban) Tennis (6): still too early, and always the question who is really interested in playing. Taekwondo (3): I am seeing two females plus one male qualifying Waterpolo (11): mens team should be safe, small chance for our women's team. Wrestling (1) considering the Russian expansion, one quota would be great in all other sports hopeless case for Croatia. But 88 would be a great delegation, probably too optimistic

We're 2/3 of the way through the 1st round of Qualifying for the 2027 World Cup for our Men. We're 3-1 (having lost to ), and still have to play and again in July. Regardless of how those go, we're moving on to the 2nd round, starting in August (but results from the 1st round carry over, so we want to do well). From an Olympics perspective, it doesn't matter if we make the World Cup, as we're already qualified. 7 other teams will qualify based on the WC results, the last four teams coming via OQTs later. For the Women, we're obviously already qualified, and we're also already qualified for the 2026 Women's WC. For this, if we win, then no other team qualifies for the Olympics at this point; otherwise, the winner will qualify. The other 10 (or 11, if we win) teams will come from an OQT in 2028.
