dcro 10,189 Posted June 10, 2016 #71 Share Posted June 10, 2016 Turkey, Spain and Italy accepted their reallocated quotas. Sweden and Canada didn't, at least not yet. http://www.sailing.org/tools/documents/2016QualifiedNationsMNAconfirmationfromallevents08.06.16-[20826].pdf mrv86 1 #banbestmen
prof87 3 Posted June 12, 2016 #72 Share Posted June 12, 2016 Paul Kohlhoff/Carolina Werner managed to earn an astonishing 2nd place in Nacra 17 at the Sailing World Cup Weymouth & Portland in a field with nearly all Rio top boats. Now they have to wait if the NOC will follow the recommendation of the German sailing federation (DSV). Announcement will made either on Juni 28th or latest on Juli 12th. dcro 10,189 Posted June 24, 2016 #73 Share Posted June 24, 2016 Switzerland has received quota in men's 49er, after Canada declined it... Thanks a lot ISAF for still not updating your qualification list. I found this thanks to Swiss NOC. #banbestmen

Sweden and Canada declined the spots, re-distributing them to Latvia and Singapore.
intoronto 4,308 Posted June 25, 2016 #75 Share Posted June 25, 2016 Canada also declined men's RS:X quota. Who is next in line? This decision seems strange, but in Canada results speak. If you send an athlete and they finish so low, your funding will suffer. In events with less boats, the athletes have a chance of placing in top 20. For ex. finishing 19/20 in an event is better than 37/50 (even though you were much further away from last).

How did you know that Canada decline the RS:X (both men and women) and 49er quotas? ISAF has not published the updated qualification list for weeks. dcro 10,189 Posted June 27, 2016 #80 Share Posted June 27, 2016 (edited) Australia declined women's 49er FX quota, it's official now. http://www.sailing.org.au/australian-sailing-statement-olympic-nomination-appeal-court-arbitration-sport-dismissed/ Croatia is next in line, but we will decline it because of the injury apparently. We don't even have luck when we receive reallocation. Austria is next in line. Edited June 27, 2016 by dcro #banbestmen
