Gáudio is completely out of contention by now.

Bárbara's best event is ribbon, so it's now between Rut and Bárbara.

Oh I remember her ribbon routine. She’s very elegant and has a great energy.

Let’s see what happens.

I just won’t listen any other rude remarks from the comentator like the one he did during men’s trampoline final.

What did he say? I was really baffled at how unprofessional he was. He even cursed at some point, which is something that is taboo in any professional coverage in sports in Brazil. Terrible commentator. I really don't remember what he said, or most probably I just lowered the volume so I didn't have to listen to him, but I apologize in advance for his behavior.

Oh, don’t apologize for him. All through the coverage he has been rather annoying and at some points plain unprofessional, unlike his partners, who have made  insightful comments, the women in particular. The only comment I liked from him was when he mentioned you yesterday :yes

He basically said he wished Gluckstein to fail his routine so just one of your gymnasts could obtain bronze. At least this time, he was more respectful and declared he expected the odds were in Brazil’s favor during the Mexican gymnasts performance.

Still nothing worse than the Chilean & Argentinian women narrating for Panam Sports spanish broadcast. Those are dumber than Patrick Star

After a 14 year wait, :MEX Ruth Castillo will make the debut of her country in Rhythmic Gumnastics.

I’m sorry for Barbara Domingos, but I’m glad the oldest rhythmic gymnast still around will go to Tokyo

:BRA Beautiful! I'm so proud!

Congratulations Brazil

You deserve to be in Tokyo, your women were better today and even if it’s a deep lose to remain at home, I’m sire that unlike the Americans you actually have the level to upset “major” teams.

Best wishes for your group in Tokyo.

Thank you!

Prior to the beginning of the event, I thought Brazil would qualify an individual and Mexico would qualify the group. Then Rut Castillo had the best competition of her life and the Mexican group did not qualify -- even though their level is still fantastic -- and everything I thought I knew about gymnastics is a lie now. :mumble::p

I seriously hope the Mexican group doesn't feel discouraged by this result. This is one of the best groups in the world, period. I think that the five balls routine is still not as mature as it could have been, and it hurt the group's chances a little bit, but as the (very unprofessional) Brazilian commentator mentioned, 2024 will be this group's time to shine.

Also, I hope Mexicans realize how monumental it is for Mexico to qualify in rhythmic gymnastics for the very first time. Brazil has never qualified an individual, at least not in the "true" sense. All of our individual performances at the Olympics resulted from invitations. Also, it is also a huge achievement not to qualify through a naturalized individual. Of course, it's okay to qualify through someone who went through the process of naturalization. I'm not judging this. But qualifying an individual born and raised in Mexico, who trained in Mexico, in this sport, is absolutely incredible. Kudos to Mexico and to Rut Castillo!

    • Makes it extra tragic that she's still quite likely to not actually make it due to Leerdam most likely making it anyway despite falling...seems like everyone there just automatically assumed her 2nd place will be enough and started celebrating
    • Stage 14 in Semmering (AUT)   Women´s Giant Slalom:   1. Julia Scheib    1:56.46 2. Camille Rast    1:56.60 3. Sara Hector   1:56.86   Full Final Results HERE
    • Stage 13 in Livigno (ITA)   Men´s Super-G:   1. Marco Schwarz    1:10.33 2. Alexis Monney   1:10.53 3. Franjo Von Allmen   1:10.58   Full Final Results HERE
    • I won't write about injuries (Fede) and non-sporting matters (Colturi), but the fact is that Italy has its worst start to the season in alpine skiing in over 10 years... Just one victory, and podiums- if any, they're mostly 3 places. We're also not leading in any of the season standings, no in the women's or men's categories. This isn't be it should be in an Olympic year in your country, where you're having your worst season in many years.
    • Plaisier blew 3 match darts and Ratajski comes back to win!
    • Yes, she was unlucky, but it could just as easily have happened during some training, like with Gut, etc. Brignone has been essentially injury-free throughout her long career, which is very rare in this sport. It's unfortunate that this happened after her best season ever and just 1 year before the Olympic Games in home, when she just missing of win the Olympic gold medal in her great career. With the gold in Cortina, she would have become a legend of Italian skiing, on par with Tomba. Now she's still the best Italian woman in history, but the miss of Olympic gold will likely haunt her for the rest of her life.
    • It sad to see this season, as I remember, that Fede last year was winning everywhere, when she competed and finished and now we haven't even managed a single podium in the giant slalom, and it'll probably stay that way until the end of the season. Without Fede and Bassino, unfortunately, we're out of good cards in this event. For me Goggia should probably skip the giant slalom at all, becouse she has no chance of a podium and she risks further injuries. If even Goggia finish 8th or 10th? What difference does it make? If she couldn't get a podium finish today with so many DNFs at the top skiers, she probably never do. Della Mea is OK this year, but let's be honest, she's not World Cup podium material. Overall, it's a sad picture, and we have a 0% chance of anything in Cortina unless a miracle happens in Brignone return.   We have two chances for Goggia in DH and SG + maybe a dark horse in Pirovano/Curtoni in SG. That's all. In technical events, we have a 0% chance for medal and that's sad. Our federation also lost Colturi in this situation... In any normal country, the head of such a federation should be dismissed for disciplinary reasons and this case should be investigated by the minister, or even the prime minister, but not in Italy...
    • Mikaela Shiffrin  off the podium today (Edit: Oops...I thought this was slalom, not Giant Slalom.).  Nina Astner  entered the 2nd run in 30th place, but had the best second run, jumping up 18 places to 12th.
    • Maryna Gąsienica-Daniel with a 5th place PB in Semmering GS!
