Interesting read about :RSA show jumper Lisa Williams. Unlike the other South African representatives who are longstanding citizens of Europe/North America, Lisa is based in South Africa. And indeed, transporting a horse from South Africa to Europe is a herculean effort...

Her horse had to spend 3 months on :MRI Mauritius!!! She literally trained on a driveway.

And to think that some (privileged) nations refuse to send people just because they can't win medals...

Wasn't South Africa refusing Olympic quota because they didn't deem teams good enough? :p

Well yeah, they have practiced such measures too. :p Still, looking at what Lisa had to do to reach Europe, it amazes me how some federations are simply too cheap or something to buy couple of extra plane tickets.

I was talking about WEG in general too, like France deciding to withdraw from dressage because they didn't believe they can win an Olympic spot. That caused a lot of anger among their riders, who've been building for WEG for a whole year.

All-time medal table:

Spoiler

I wonder if we could have a first time medalist in Tryon. I guess these nations should have a chance:

:BRN Bahrain - endurance

:COL Colombia - jumping, vaulting

:EGY Egypt - jumping

:ISR Israel - jumping

:JPN Japan - eventing, para-dressage

:LAT Latvia - para-dressage

:MEX Mexico - jumping

:OMA Oman - endurance

:URU Uruguay - endurance

Some of these are very much outsiders, but hopefully at least one of them willl make it!
