Most probably that's why the pro box date is pushed back...

Guys, really with the form Vijender is showing, he will be a real deal if he can go to Rio. Do let us know if you get any information on whether there is any possibility for him. I think this should be a bigger question than Narsingh/Sushil :)

I disagree. Narsingh won the bronze at the World Championships and Sushil with his experience and confidence for me is a gold medal candidate. I think whoever goes is a sureshot medalist. On the other hand, with AIBA ruling the roost in boxing, a knockout in each round is required to guarantee a medal :wall:

Still I think Vijender is also a sureshot medal contender. He is in super form @Suneet

But we can never be so sure about boxing with lack of federation back home and lack of voice in the tournaments. We have only 1 boxer qualified so far and it is impossible after seeing growth of Indian boxer in recent past. Boxing is not a fair game:facepalm:

Sushil Kumar has moved the Delhi high court requesting for a trial. Stupid feet dragging WFI couldn't take a decision fearing a court case and not exactly that has happened. Why didnt WFI decide one way or the other earlier?

Can we get two quota in judo? Pakistani media is claming that they have got two wildcards in shooting? Is it possible, i think except swimming and athletics, IOC didn't allow two wild cards for a nation.

    • Let's not act as if these things never happen before. Serbia's cross-country skiing drama a week before the Olympic qualifying for Beijing ended: FIS | Cross-Country Results - Zlatibor (SRB) 2021/2022   Drndic with a DNF, despite being - on paper at least - the best athlete. She didn't just 'not finish', she stepped out barely 50 meters before the finish, because if finishing, the points for her competitor would have been better due to the way points are calculated. Ended up with lots and lots of yelling and screaming and fighting and cursing, DNS the next day and in the end Serbia sent none of them.   This is not a shit move by Canada, this is a fault of the system at most.
    • Yes agreed, resetting it would help make it more dramatic as no one would be running away with it. We could also set it that there is a small reward for ranking higher after each round… maybe they start the next round with a “head start” so they bring a few points into the next round? But starting from scratch each round might be cleaner
    • I like the concept a lot. My only worry would be that the nations doing the best individually would also end up at the top here as teams are only made up of pairs. Whereas in a bigger team it gives the nations not doing so well individually to have another chance if they are lucky enough to be placed in a good team. Any way we can balance it?

    • Nice for them, but also kind of too bad they pick the exact same two as last time. Would have been nice to see Regina Martinez for example (although I'm not sure that would have been logistically possible, depending on how they're going to do the flag bearer thing in the first place).
