Thanks for those points, they are enlightening, so her target tomorrow should be to go below 9:20

sure if she is able to do that it  would be  an excellent improvement and she can position herself as one of the athletes who can be in the top group 4-6 race leaders at Rio  ......also importantly for us she would be seen as the best in the Asian context ...currently Ruth jebet from Bahrain has been doing 9.21... this has been her progress over the last 2 years

Twenty-six-year-old Lalita, who switched to 3000m steeplechase two years ago , bettered the National record for the fourth  time in a span of about 18months to underline that good work ethics could never go unrewarded.

In the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Lalita had clocked 9:37.35 to go past Sudha Singh’s National record of 9:47.70 and bag the bronze medal. She achieved her personal best again in September last to claim an Asian Games silver medal.

Lalita, hailing from Satara district of Maharashtra, left an impact in the Wuhan Asian championship where she cut more than a second (9:34.13) to claim the gold medal and make it to the World championship and next year’s Rio Olympics.

In Beijing, she once again raised the bar to time 9:27.86 to come fourth in her heat and eighth overall to qualify for the finals in great style.

after that had broken that again in the fed games just last month .....................

so it possible for her to better her time but 6-7 seconds may be a lot

I watched her in the Fed Cup achieve the new NR with ease in the sapping, polluted weather in Delhi, she was not stretched at all and immediately after the event ran to the scorers, to check her timings, so maybe going below 9:20 tomorrow with stiff competition is a possibility.

at the archery world cup at medellin ..... Indian second string team provides no upsets .............no individuals reach semis ...... 2 indian men reach compound quarters ( abhishek and gurwinder ) and 1 indian women in compound quarter lily paonam ...... the only person who stood out was Lily .... I think she may be a good talent for the women compund team with jyothi .........................

we lost in the mixed and recurve teams in the 1st and 2nd rounds

so our only hope rests with the compound teams ...India has reached the semis in women compound and quarters in men compound

    • Meant to ask this during the Olympics, but how many of you non-USA peeps are familiar with this song?  In case you don't know, this was written for the LA84 games by John Williams, renowned film score composer (Star Wars, Superman, Jurassic Park, etc.).  NBC now uses this all the time in their Olympic promos, intros, etc.   I had a friend who moved from the US to England, and when the Olympics came on, he commented that he missed this song.  So, perhaps this song is unknown to non-USers...but I have a sneaky suspicion that you Olympics nerds might have heard it.         Edit: I'm hoping to make it to an athletics session at LA28 so I can be in the stadium where he directed the orchestra to perform this song during the Opening Ceremony.  Williams is still alive, and at 94, I hope he can hang in there two more years to see the Olympics return to LA and receive some honor.  He also composed music for Atlanta '96, and the opening theme of Summon the Heroes also gets used by NBC a lot (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3kNRyh_rj8)
