India will make their maiden appearance in the under-17 Futsal World Cup, scheduled in Paraguay from July 11, after being invited by the sport's governing body as a wild card entrant.

The squad left for Paraguay today morning and would be playing their first game against Catalonia on July 12, followed by league games against Paraguay on July 13 and Kazakhstan on July 14.

 

The squad: Bharatraj Selvakumar (Capt, Tamil Nadu), Narang Divyansh (goalkeeper, Delhi), Sarvagya Rawat (Karnataka), Ritvik Varghese, Prithviraj Kumar (both Haryana), Sanket Prasanna Coondapur (Maharashtra), Pulluru Vishruth (Telengana), Gunavanth Mahendra Duremanthi (goalkeeper Telengana), Siddhant Keshav Dalvi (Maharashtra), Pratyush Sudhir Bokadia Jain, Hriday Anant Khatri (both Tamil Nadu), Pranav Manish Chanana (Maharashtra), Jeet Sampat (Tamil Nadu), Sreejit Neelakant (Delhi), Hriday Parakh (Maharashtra). How can Indians face each other...Usually only one from a country can participate. At the UWW website, there are no news. Where can we get updates

    • Remember that Russia's IOC suspension was for a "breach of the Olympic Charter because it violated the territorial integrity of the NOC of Ukraine" not for any other reason. Restoring Russia without that changing would have huge repercussions for other nations.
    • It’s just a great weasel word.   We all want  to come back to International sport "when they are in compliance". But there are very differing opinions on what that means.
    • I doubt that.  It will mean only a doping rubber stamp and a promise not to swear at the ice skating moppets in public,

    • "once it returns to compliance" would mean it renounces its claim to Crimea... Can't see that happening any time soon.
    • Maggie MacNeil   She was an Olympic, World (LC and SC) Pan American Games and Commonwealth Games Champion. Highly decorated career. 
    • when I raised the question, I forgot that that there was no U23 medals for women just a couple years ago...
    • it happens when you think too much ahead about the next match (vs Brazil) while you have a tough opponent ahead. they gave up 4 silly goals in the first half and then it was a mountain to climb.  Iran had a last penalty exactly in the last second which hit the bar   have to admit Iran played terrible the entire match and didn't deserve the win but Morocco is also a very ugly team. lots of acting, deceiving, diving and protesting in the 2nd half. putting Iran in 5 fouls very early which made the team playing cautious 
    • Morocco won after almost being stolen the victory by the refs. Those officials should be sent home after calling that joke foul in the last second.
    • and another medal. in Road Race this time.   Bronze despite a face crash in the middle of the race, her 5th medal of the year, 4th from 3 different sports World Championships
