[OFF TOPIC] Politics Thread

If Russia is constantly shooting, why can't Ukraine? I doubt they'll hit big cities in Russia like Moscow, Petersburg etc where civilians are living. If the more military targets and factories are destroyed in Russia, the sooner Tsar Putin will finally sit down for peace talks. For now, he can do whatever it wants, because he can produce everything on its own + Iran and North Korea provide it with equipment and experts.

I`m not sure whether the military will carry out such an order from Putin and if they don`t, it may be his last order. These are very risky decisions.

Netanyahu is bad but unfortunately Hamas helps him maintain power. Every attack they make is a reinforcement of Netanyahu's rhetoric about the country's security, etc. In the fall of 2023, Netanyahu was already losing support and then suddenly a big Hamas attack on a festival near the Gaza Strip. Coincidence? It wouldn`t surprise me at all if Netanyahu knew about the plan for this attack but did nothing so that he would then have the tools to maintain his power. I also remember Ariel Sharon - he was probably even more radical than Netanyahu but he had a brain hemorrhage and fell into a coma.

Yeah, I've read opinions that some Israel intelligence agents within Hamas ranks convinced Hamas to make the attack since Netanyahu is weak and the response would be limited but this is just what Netanyahu needed to fight a sudden enemy and it only helped his political status when some thought he is truly heading for the exit door.

This kind of charade isn't anything new in politics, the same way de Gaulle "needed" OAS in the early 60s and they were at least inspired by inside French government agents to begin with.

Some good news: Matt Gaetz is out from his position as attorney general, basically two months before he'd even start.

Ya but the replacement is Pat Bondi, a choice that is only better in so far as Pat Bondi isn't credibly accused of having had sex with multiple underaged girls.

Also, you might recognize this name: Pete Hoekstra has been nominated to be the US ambasador to Canada.
