Commentator: "The one who left Bjoerndalen out of the team should at least go to jail."

At least? That sounds like that's the bare minimum and he actually wants to go for the execution option :p

I started by checking Kocergina's results, and then I saw that since her IBU debut in 2009, she has actually never shot 0+0 in non-relay races until today :yikes:

Woah, that sounded pretty unbelievable, but all those three times that she got into points she did have at least one miss. That's a very long time of not shooting clear

Honestly, I wasn't entirely sure if I'd be writing this message in this season, but we just won our first World Cup points in the women's field. Thanks for this nice surprise Natalija Kočergina!

:ROU Eva Tofalvi suddenly pulls 0+0 out of the hat. Puts her into contention for the quota.

If my calculations are correct, Estonia loses one quota in the very last race today, which is taken by Tofalvi. Beilmann comes up just 2.02 points shy of saving Estonia's second spot.

Any more races that could change this before Monday?

There shouldn't be. The qualifying list of 22 January is specifically mentioned as the deciding moment in the qualifying document, and the next point scoring competitions are at the Open Europeans on 24 and 26 January.

Tomorrow's sprint start list fiesta!

After some below average performances, Mesotitsch is out of the Austrian team and Grosseger is back in.

Roesch is finally back in World Cup racing as Claude takes a step back.

Chepelin is brought back in for Belarus after some good performances in the IBU cup and he replaces Smolski.

One switch for Bulgaria, whilst Canada starts with their B team that includes: Davies, Campbell, Hudec and Millar.

Crnkovic for Croatia is starting tomorrow with his final Olympic attempt.

Kristeijn replaces Hosek for the Czech Republic, whilst Lessing replaces Zakhna for Estonia.

One thing that I'd like to bring attention to is Team France. With Jacquelin and Simon Fourcade in the team tomorrow, that means that Beatrix is out of the Olympics.

One change for team Japan, one change for team Kazakhstan and Lapshin is back for Korea.

Tomas Kaukėnas is off to Olympic preparations for team Lithuania and that means that youngster Linas Banys will start in his first ever World Cup time trial (he started in two relays prior to tomorrow)

The most interesting game is starting tomorrow as Norway brings out all of their best for the final sprint. (Unfortunately, Gjesbakk wasn't really given a chance after his 7th place)

One switch for Romania and a couple of changes for Russia, Volkov and Shopin are replaced by Tsvetkov and Babikov.

A change for team Slovenia as Bauer is back after missing Rupholding, whilst Weger also comes back after missing Rupholding and he replaced Tambornino for Switzerland.

Sweden's B team is in action tomorrow with: Hallstroem, Stenersen, Arwidson and Soederhielm.

And finally, Team USA is starting with the full 5 athletes, adding Nordgren and Currier in the mix.

    • Olivia Weaver was up 9-4 in the 5th game.  Hania El Hammamy  then scored 5 straight points to tie it up.  Then, took the lead with a sixth straight point, then won with a 7th straight point, taking the Sprott Tournament of Champions in New York.  Still, congrats to Weaver for bringing home second place!  (And congrats to El Hammamy...what a streak at the end!)
    • One thing working in our favor with Luge is that Women's Doubles is just one sled per NOC, so I like our chances there.  We'll be 3rd or 4th in the Relay (one of my favorite events)...if everyone slides cleanly, we'll probably be 4th, behind , , and ...but anything can happen in the relay.  (I think in my official predictions I had us 3rd.  Wishful thinking, I suppose.)
    • They can also just count DNSs to handle this specific situation.
    • I suspect IBSF will make the point system equal in the future regardless on the number of competitors.   My fear is that they will make the awarded points lower, like only 90 points to the winner to balance it out.
    • Olivia Asselin (freestyle skiing)   She was at the X Games competing this week. Another medal hope out the drain, she was in the form of her life
    • You'd have to ask her simpatic boyfriend from the USA about that, who is often seen at competitions with her participation
