Men's Road Cycling UCI World Tour 2020 (La Vuelta Ciclista a España)

Good change for Carthy.  Roglič also much better.  Actually, could not be worse.

Roglič leads the day by a fraction of a second.

I'd have said a minute or more if it was entirely flat, now I'm going with 30-45 seconds.

It's 49 seconds.

Breakaway day - Tim Wellens gets it.

Bit of a climb in the last 1k, might get a bit of a fight in the GC in a few minutes.

Don’t think there was a gap....

Pouring rain today.  Breakaway trying to get over the last climb and win on the descent.  Cattaneo is solo off the front at the moment, has a good chance.

Weather has killed him, looking like a sprint now.

Jesper Philipsen UAE :BEL gets the uphill sprint win.

Group of about 40 have got over the climbs with 22k to go, seemingly none of the obvious sprinters, so probably a random sprint winner, or perhaps a daredevil late breakaway.

Magnus Cort Nielsen gets the sprint.

So far nothing of note is happening in the final serious stage of the Vuelta, with a little over 30k to go. There's a fairly hard climb to finish it off, but everyone except for the organizers is expecting not much to happen there neither, let's see.

Should think Carthy will challenge Carapaz for second at least. Not really expecting another Roglič collapse.  Chris Froome has flopped again on Carapaz’s big day: frankly if I was his team boss I’d put him on potato-peeling duties for the rest of the year, at least he’d be doing something useful.
