Damir Plantić secured a medal in the light heavyweight category. :yes

Nice to see that we still have good boxers after both of our Rio Olympians switched to pros.

Very disappointing championships for us, only 2 quotas for the Worlds...  Only Daniel Asenov had a great performance in reaching the final and going for a defence of his 2015 title.

and 8 quota for europe is unjust , europe is not the best continent of boxing

america/asia are much more powerful

Amount of quotas is decided by success at previous World Championships.

Because European boxers have won the most medals at the last 3 championships they get more quota

and she did it again  Yesterday she retained her title

Congrats Jess ! :cheer:

And here we go...Jess will very likely compete for Azerbaijan  Her coach and father announced that the Azeri already contacted them with great offer of citizenship, interesting salary, a individual coaching staff and many others different benefits...(source in SVK article : like Kenya winning Ice Hockey Championships https://sport.aktuality.sk/c/285851/ako-keby-kena-vyhrala-sampionat-v-hokeji/ )

I mean this really sucks..she is only 16 for god sake, we will never have again any similar talent in this sport, and such big country only wait to stole everything everywhere..really unfair..

No way you can blame her and her father (I mean, who's gonna say no to a shitload of money and financial security for probably a long time?), but damn, I f*cking hate those Azerbaijan sports rats.

    • poir Madsen had a very unlucky debut at the CWC he seriously injured himself (dislocated shoulder and possible concussion) in an attempt to save a boundary in the very early stages of Today' match vs Scotland   moreover, Italy lost badly against the Scots, allowing them to score 207 runs in the 1st innings (it took 14 overs to get the 1st wicket) and going well short chasing that score (we immediately saw that today wasn't the day when our lead batsman went out at the very 1st ball thanks to an amazing but improbable catch by a Scottish fielder)   in all this, a couple of highlights to be recorded: Hasan Ali with a very efficient bowling performance (5.25 economy, 1 wicket) and Harry Manenti with good 52 runs in just over 30 balls with the bat
    • The Italian team has already achieved a better result than the Chinese team in 2022 at home. The Italian team has made enormous progress since 2023, when we were still losing to Korea and Poland. Of course, this is mainly due to naturalizations, but China did the same. It's one of the few sports that have made significant progress before these Olympics and this is how it should be in most disciplines at home games.
    • change with given the WBC rosters    ps you forgot (I'd put them at no.5, however)
