the pools of the preliminary stage of the 2026/2027 World Cup have been determined by WBSC

the Pool A will be played in :CZE Prague between June 16th through 20th, 2026 and will feature :CZE:CAN:TPE:ITA:CUB:AUS

the pool B will be played in :PER Lima from July 14th through July 18th, 2026 and will feature :PER:JPN:PUR:GBR:VEN:UGA

the Pool C will be staged in :USA Oklahoma City from September 12th through 16th, 2026 featuring :USA:NED:CHN:MEX:NZL:RSA

the Top 2 in each pool and 2 wild card teams (1 necesarily being :AUS if they don't qualify on the field) will advance to the World Cup Finals (Talobilla Park in :AUS Redcliffe, Brisbane, April 5th through April 11th, 2027)

Pool B looks to be quite simple for :JPN and :PUR meanwhile Pool C may end up being a blood bath with four Top 8 nations

Indeed… at least one out of Mexico, China and Netherlands will be cut too soon.

tbh, :CHN are quite on a downward trajectory in the last few years, I'd be surprised if they can win games vs :NED or :MEX

they're still in the top part of the world ranking because of the past and the youth tournaments rather than thanks their senior team performing well in the global champs recently

in pool B I wouldn't underestimate :GBR (in such kind of tournament they can manage the use of Corrick in the circle better than how they did in the last Euro Champs and be very dangerous in a in-or-out match vs :PUR) and even :VEN on paper could field a very good team (provided that they can overcome the current political situation)

the most balanced pool might prove to be the A one, with :CAN:ITA and :AUS battling out for only 2 spots (even if :AUS have the parachute of the wild card because they host the Finals in 2027) and :TPE might also be very dangerous on a given day, not to mention :CUB, which you never know what kind of team they field nowadays (but they have tradition and know the game)

    • Honestly, I think you guys have a much better chance of success here than we do. It's already difficult to maintain this sport, and with this ridiculous format this year, things have gotten even worse. Years and years participating in the elite and we haven't been able to evolve; it was just a waste.

    • Another weak result for our athletics team, which is typical; without Caio or Alisson, our chances of a medal in any high-level tournament are almost zero.   However, Juliana's result in the women's pole vault was a great 7th place. • some changes in the team and less importance to the sport, the two big teams until 2022/2023 ( and ) in south america started to decrease a lot and in the other hand the 3rd in South America () is growing a lot, is really impressive. We are currently the favourites for the LA2028 quota

    • What happened to Brazil's women's team? On the other hand it looks like Argentina may be the top South American team on the women's side. Defeating Spain, China and South Africa was unlikely up until this year
