Spain and France are possibly the only two countries where 7s is thriving right now in terms of funding and interest. But yeah Australia hosting could keep it going for one more cycle (even though only rugby league is really prosperous there). -
Many rugby accounts I follow constantly report how WR loses a lot of money every year trying to keep the series afloat. I don't know how much truth there is to that but we do keep seeing the svns getting smaller every year + no more real world championship which is worrying.

Isn't Rugby7s quite big? At least here is growing a lot, and specially in a games hosted in AUSTRALIA I don't see rugby going anywhere

Honestly feel like Rugby 7s could leave, not because of an IOC decision but rather because the discipline itself could disappear.

Kirsty Coventry has said she will be making decisions that will upset some people. Cutting the games back to 28 sports and 200-250 medals but keeping the Tokyo additions will mean some long running sports and disciplines are removed
