Ruck also has the 50 free semis.

It would be risky, but bringing in both could push Canada into medal territory

Yeah, the coaches need to think if it's a good idea. They'll also both have the medley relay tomorrow (at least the finals, hopefully). For Ruck, I say go for it. She's not pushing to medal in the 50 free or medley relay, most likely. It's sort of both or nothing, maybe. It's like the mixed medley, strong teams are out and the field is very close. But it's not an Olympic event, so who knows.

Damn, we need Penny!

Didn’t even know that the ready room podcast was a thing :p

Thanks for the clarification

Yeah, CBC started a Canadian swimming podcast this year. Been enjoying it so far.

(15) Swimming podcast 'The Ready Room' with Brittany MacLean Campbell - YouTube

Episodes every week and every day for world championships.

In 50.07, a new PB!

Liendo adds to our 4th place tally just 0.02 back with 50.09.

Really a shame. 50.09 is a still a reeeally good time. It's just that the Europeans showed up big time this year.

24.53 in the 50 free for Taylor Ruck. Just misses the final by a couple of spots.

She’s had a tough last couple of years, happy to see her back in form ;)

    • Tentoglou won the men's long jump with 8.22. He only had two valid jumps today.   Another U20NR came in the women's shot put from Maria Rafailidou. She had 16.53 earlier this week and now got 16.59. She's second in the world for U20 this year    So of course Karalis was the big star of our nationals this year, more than Tentoglou, but we also had a lot of teenagers show good signs for the future (Antonatou, Alivizatos, Mitropoulou, Iakovaki, Rafailidou etc).   Antonatou and Alivizatos are both from Kefalonia island. Antonatou's brother is a shot putter who is 19 yo and had a new PB yesterday of 17.92 in the NCAA. I don't remember us ever having any strong athletes from Kefalonia in any sport aside from the late Anna Pollatou who won an Olympic bronze in rhythmic gymnastics. What are they feeding these kids on this island (it only has about 35.000 residents)?! Very impressive.
