Is this the frist event with Belorussian flag since a while?

If you Ignore the football friendly with Russia and such then yes, also this decision led to the withdrawal of the Ukrainian team

Manuel Lombardo: 0-7 in final Block fights (final or bronze) at major events (Olympic Games, World Championships):hairpull: You can write anything, but not that this guy has the mentality of a great champion:facepalm:

still, some of those fights were robberies (also Today's one vs Ishihara)

however, also Today he did in both the semifinal and the medal match the same stupid mistake...he might not be the smartest and winningest judo player, but I think there's something wrong also in the handle (aka, the coaching staff), you just can't do always the same thing and go unpunished  :wall:

Personally, I'm counting on 1 more medal - maybe only Bellandi has a real chance? If only this 1 gold remains, it will be unsatisfactory for me, similarly to Paris last year. We are entering a new 4-year period, but the names of our leaders are still the same: Scutto, Bellandi, Giuffrida, Lombardo etc. It would be good to have 1-2 new names.

actually, Scutto's gold has already made this tournament a success, the team has already exceeded my expectations

I was quite sure we didn't get a single player in the final block this time (given the very poor season our guys have had so far)

Are there any places where one can watch this (on-demand, specifically) outside of the IJF, where apparently they once again think judo is one of the most globally popular viewing sports and they're asking lots of money to watch :p

Can't you see in ijf judotv free? although the buffering and advertisement are annoying.  No live is availabe as I know except IJF, and replays are in youtube (above semifinals I guess)

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
