well this is a big win for them considering how many did not want her to get a Lithuanian passport, since we have burnt with this in the past.[Isabelle Tobias]

Not to get overly involved in other country's internal affairs, but Lithuania seems to be a very unfriendly country to immigrate to.

I don't know this specific case, but now almost everyone is being hated and for no apparent reason - even Sinner in Italy is being attacked for living in Monte Carlo, for example. The universal internet provides anonymity and makes people more courageous than in real life.

From what I know, Lithuanians probably don't like Poles - I have family in eastern Poland near the border with Lithuania and I've heard such voices. Although I've only been to Lithuania itself once and it was okay, although it was a holiday day- 1 may and the streets were empty.

can't really say on regular immigration,we have plenty of stories of immigrants being very happy here.however in terms of sport migration so that forgneirs could compete  for us in sports like figure skating or Basketball[the latter  especially is seen as horrible to even contemplate but i have to wonder how many more years of the national team winning nothing[another decade ?] will change that ?] there's plenty of nationalism, the mindset is that we would much rather be at the bottom  then win wth a foreigner, especially when it feels like the foregner is just using our country as a  one time spot for the olympics.

i personally do not care but there are obviously historical reasons for that and plenty of poles don't like us either, which i don't know, feels like in our partnership they were the ones who got everything,it was their empire, they had all the power, people here have reasons to be bitter at poles if they want to be,why poles don't like us exactly, not sure.

Poles usually don`t like Germans and Russians the most for historical reasons. In the case of Lithuania it`s probably the same as with Ukraine, that there are some local misunderstandings. Certainly all these countries: Poland, Baltic countries, Ukraine etc. have a common enemy - imperial Russia and they have to stick together.

hiliarously in modern times it was poland who we had a war with for our capital and yeah i would not call that a ''missunderstanding''  it was THE SOVIETS who gave it back to us[obviously they were in our land afterwards and they were just using us  but still it's what happened] again i have no hatred for poles but some of them, especially their football fans who arrive here are insuffarable,i certainly won't bother talking anyone out of their hatred for them if they have such a thing, that's their right to do so,i don't think it's a big part of the population anyway,we have a significant polish political party so it's hardly a big issue here.

And generally Lithuania has good relations with these other Baltic countries: Latvia and Estonia? Or do you also have some historical issues?

yes, very good relations,we consider them our brothers/sisters,Latvia especially,no there's no historical issues, there couldn't really be any anyway ,Latvia and estonia really only appeared on the world maps after the first world war, while we been present since as early as the 1000.

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
    • After looking at the entry list of athletes in the official website, I've changed some of my predictions in the Olympic events with these changes:   Total Tally: Thailand 87, Singapore 51, Vietnam 48, Indonesia 33, Philippines 24, Malaysia 22, Cambodia 1     Badminton (5): Malaysia 2, Thailand 1, Singapore 1, Indonesia 1   Men’s Singles: Switched from Thailand to Singapore     Boxing (11): Thailand 8, Philippines 2, Vietnam 1   Men: -54 kg (-55 kg): Thailand, -60 kg: Thailand, -63.5 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -69 kg (-70 kg): Thailand, -80 kg: Philippines   Women: -50 kg (-51 kg): Thailand, -54 kg: Thailand, -57 kg: Thailand, -60 kg: Vietnam, -66 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -70 kg: Philippines     Sailing (7): Thailand 4, Singapore 2, Malaysia 1   ICLA 6: Switched from Thailand to Malaysia     Taekwondo (8): Thailand 6, Vietnam 2   -67 kg: Switched from  Vietnam to Thailand     Weightlifting (5): Thailand 2, Philippines 1, Indonesia 1, Malaysia 1   Men: -65 kg: Malaysia, -94 kg (-95 kg): Thailand   Women: -53 kg: Thailand, -69 kg: Philippines, -77 kg: Indonesia   * I saw that they have actually change the weight categories to almost match that of IWF newly introduced categories from several months ago.      Wrestling (12): Vietnam 7, Philippines 3, Indonesia 2   Men's Freestyle: -57 kg: Philippines, -65 kg: Vietnam, -74 kg: Vietnam, -86 kg: Philippines Men's Greco-Roman: -67 kg: Indonesia, -77 kg: Vietnam, -87 kg: Indonesia, -97 kg: Vietnam Women's Freestyle: -50 kg: Vietnam, -53 kg: Vietnam, -57 kg: Vietnam, -62 kg: Philippines
    • Many permutations possible in the last game, going to be a nail-biter!  v  is the live game on the Olympic Channel later today.   2025 WCF Curling Olympic Qualification Event – Kelowna, Canada   Team   Wins   Losses   Men       CHN 6   0     P USA 5   1     P JPN 4   2     NED 3   3     PHI 3   3     KOR 2   4     NZL 1   5     POL 0   6
