at the world games in china i have noticed that GB qualified teams in the womens (no men's tournament at all) flag football and lacrosse, both events are 8 team tounaments so getting there is a very good start

the flag football tournament starts on the 14th of august

lacross starts on the 7th

the only other olympic level sport where ive seen GB are sending competitors is archery, 1 female compound, and 1 male and female in the recurve

does anyone know how to watch these events? think they will be on youtube?

There's a world games app you can watch the streams on.

For anyone who is interested, I've mapped out what I think could be likely qualification pathways across the LA28 sports - except for Boxing because not sure who will be managing the qualifying procedure, weightlifting because the weight classes aren't established yet, and wrestling because I really don't care about it.

GB disappointingly eliminated in the group stage of the women's lacrosse tournament.

They destroyed china in their first game, played really well against Canada but ultimately lost as Canada pulled away in the second half of that game, and then also lost to Japan after getting themselves into silly trouble with fouls.

As a sport i actually quite like it, GB are the highest ranked team in Europe so i'm hoping this tournament has some placement games as would get to see where they are at against ireland and czechia

I had actually forgotten that lacrosse was always a popular girl's school sport here - like in Enid Blyton books etc.

Indicative Olympic Qualifying Time for LA:

 image.png

The OQT is based on the 14th place time from the heats in Paris with the OCT applying additional 0.5%. In most cases (green) the qualifying times should be slower than Paris albeit probably not by much but there are a couple of events on the women's side where the entry standards could be considerably slower.

5th place, highest ranked European Team for the women, seem well set  for continental place if Lacross goes that route, and pretty well set for plain ranking place in any event - with US as host, the top (next) four covering four continents is handy for IOC purposes - unlikely any African team will be close to competitive, so may very well end up with the sixth spot open to the other two Europeans who are also high up in the rankngs.

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
