:GBR beat :RWA fairly comfortably despite a minor implosion of form in the end. They will play :HUN in the semis, in a tough but winnable match. I wasn't really expecting a win today given current tournament form but it's a nice surprise.

That was probably the first basketball match I have properly watched and it feels like it can't make it's mind up whether it is a contact sport or not. Apparently if you run into someone you are fouled but you are allowed to wrap your arms around someone and push them off the court.

The men's 3x3 team were ranked 12, and made it to the quarter finals when they were beaten so finished top 8. Hope this is the start of an upwards trend in this sport, in the QF they got into foul trouble very early and i don't know if its me but i thought they were a bit show-boaty compared to some other matches i watched?

A bit late, but the GB women's team had a couple of matches in their qualifying campaign for the 2025 Women's EuroBasket tournament.

They recorded a fairly comfortable win against :DEN 75-62 before suffering a frustrating defeat against :SWE. In an extremely tight game GB led by a point after the 1st quarter. They extended their lead to 5 points at half time and although they were pegged back, they went into the final quarter with a 2 point lead. Unfortunately, they lost the final quarter and ultimately fell to a 63-60 defeat.

GB currently sit 2nd in their qualification group so they aren't automatically guaranteed to qualify for the next stage however they are one of the strongest 2nd placed teams and their last 2 group matches in February next year, are against teams that they have comfortably beaten already.

:GBR women defeat :EST 93-42 in their penultimate Eurobasket qualifying match in Manchester.

They maintain 2nd place in their group behind :SWE and strengthen their position as one of the top 4 second placed teams. Barring disaster in their final match against :DEN this weekend, they should  have done enough to qualify for the final tournament.

:GBR men finished off their 2025 Eurobasket qualifying campaign with a 96-75 win over :CZE in Newcastle this evening.  They had already confirmed their spot with victory over :NED last week but they'll be happy to have reversed the earlier 90-82 defeat from the away leg last year.

The draw for the 2025 Women's Eurobasket took place last night. :GBR have been drawn against :GER:SWE and :ESP.

The ties take place on 19, 20 and 22nd June and GB need to be in the top two to progress to the knock-out rounds.

Spain will start as clear favourites to top the group whilst GB will be hoping to reverse the two close defeats against Sweden from qualifying.

Time to catch up on some of the action I've missed over the last few weeks.

:GBR Men's 3x3 squad have qualified for the World Cup at the end of the month after coming through the Qualifying tournament in Azerbaijan last month.

The squad lost their first match against :CAN 21-14 before a 21-12 victory over :AZE secured their progression in the event and give them 2 chances to qualify for the World Cup. They came up short at the first attempt against Montenegro 21-14 before securing their ticket to the World Cup with a win over :RWA 21-13.

:GBR have been drawn in Pool D against :NED :LTU :ESP and :SUI. A top 3 finish in the group is needed to progress to the round of 16.

Both the men's and women's 3x3 squads are now in :SVK as they begin look to qualify for the 2026 Europe Cup. The GB men face :SVK and :LTU in their pool matches today. GB need to top the table to qualify.

The women will be facing off against :ISR :SLO :LTU today before facing :ITA in the final pool match tomorrow. Pool winners win automatically qualify with the two runners up facing off for the final qualifying spot.

Away from the 3x3 teams, the women's team are preparing for the 2025 Eurobasket tournament with matches lined up against :SLO:GRE :LTU and :SRB. Unfortunately, they were well beaten by :SLO 95-55.
