After one run, :NED Kimberly Bos leads with 58.18, ahead of :CAN Halle Clarke in second with 58.20 and :GBR Tabitha Stoecker in third with 58.25

Very tight between the top 11 or so, a lot can change in the next three runs.

First two runs for men’s and women’s skeleton were on today.

For the women, :CAN Hallie Clarke leads on 1:57.17, ahead of :GBR Tabitha Stoecker (1:57.20) and :GER Hannah Neise (1:57.23). Very tight in the rankings, realistically there’s probably around 15 athletes still in the mix for a medal.

For the men, it’s looking like it’ll be a two-man race for gold with :GER Christopher Grotheer and :GBR Matt Weston seperated by only 0.04 (1:54.30 to 1:54.34), with both around 7/10th of a second faster than current third place :CHN Yin Zheng (1:55.03). Anyone from top 12 and higher is still in the mix for the bronze medal though.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
    • option no.2 for sure, as it's been all this shitstorm organized by the nhl owners through their embedded reporters   ps not that the north american audience looks really aware of the hockey rules and habits outside the nhl (and around their game, too, since they look not to know that just a couple of weeks ago they played 2 nhl matches on an ice sheet of the exact same size of Milan's olympic arena)
    • Are we supposed to take Daly's word for it or is this just public posturing to try and shame the Milan organizers (which they certainly deserve for all the delays) in order to threaten NHL participation?
    • Well that was a disappointing opening ceremony. Not to mention the boss is late too...   Anyway this is another victim of bureaucracy, the initial creative director quit in October and we get this kind of show.   Original plan: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17EVayTpig/
    • Japan missed their last shot with hammer in the 10th last night against the Philippines for them to stay alive.  USA's remaining 2 games are against Philippines and Netherlands, so they have a tough road ahead, although they've already beaten Japan, so that helps for tiebreaker purposes.
    • They have already beaten Japan, so a win would them in a strong place.
