Don’t see us qualifying any athletes in open water this time around. Sure, Finlin is 6 seconds away from the OQS in the women’s 1500m freestyle, so not too far away but I don’t see it happening. What a terrible Olympic qualification period we’ve had so far.

Well that was a quick turnaround… :yikes:

Emma Finlin has officially qualified for Paris after getting the reallocated Oceania quota :cheer::woohoo:

Not exactly, the quota was reallocated to the highest ranked nation which has not qualified an athlete. Since it was originally a continental quota it followed those properties.

I am glad to see that my initial quota analysis was correct! Somehow every media outlet got it wrong and I believed them

Mexico is still listed as having earned a women’s quota? So I don’t believe you’re right.

Mexico got the Pan American quota while Canada got the reallocated Oceania quota.

I read that qualification document so many times that I deleted a drafted post saying that Emma Finlin may get the quota because of the how it was worded. Happy we got this quota!

20-5 win for Canada over Great Britain to improve to 2-0 in women’s waterpolo pool play! Big game coming up against Italy, a win would advance them directly through to the quarterfinals where they would most likely play Greece. A loss, and a likely visit with New Zealand in the playoffs, followed by a likely visit with Spain in the quarterfinals. So not a path we’d want to take.

Let’s take down Italy then :D

There's positives and negatives in finishing 1st or 2nd in the group. Finishing 1st gives us an easier path to the semis which means we'll very likely make the Olympics.

On the other hand if we do lose in the quarterfinals then our 5th-8th opponent will likely be the loser of Netherlands/Hungary while if we finish second in the group then our opponent will be Australia. I imagine we'll need a minimum a top 6 finish to qualify to the Olympics.

Regardless, we'll probably need to defeat Hungary or Italy to qualify to the Olympics so it'll be either now or later.

Jacqueline Simoneau wins gold in women’s solo free, for her second medal of the week after silver in the solo technical!

If only this was an Olympic event…

    • has no NOC criteria this year. The Biathlon federation is requiring a top 60 in a World Cup or a top 10 in an IBU cup over the entire qualification period.   https://content-api.teambelgium.be/storage/files/file_fr/182.pdf https://teambelgium.sharepoint.com/sites/TopSportHub/HPM/Forms/AllItems.aspx?id=%2Fsites%2FTopSportHub%2FHPM%2FSel-Crit%2F1-OG%2FW-2026-MilanoCortina%2FCrit-National%2Fcritsel BTH MiCo 2026 FR version 1.0.pdf&parent=%2Fsites%2FTopSportHub%2FHPM%2FSel-Crit%2F1-OG%2FW-2026-MilanoCortina%2FCrit-National&p=true&ga=1
    • either way if i was caudery or moser ,i wouldn't give a damn the old offical would get his balls punted.
    • i would honestly question if the bar was put back on properly both Caudery and sutej pretty much jumped over perfectly on the third attempt and it fell off.
    • No medal for Caudery. She celebrated the first attempt at 4.75 with room to spare and clipped it on the way down and also failed the other two attempts.
    • Meziane trips over the inside kerb and goes out in men's 800 SF.
    • Caudery is about to bitchslap an official .
    • yeah, obviously that was wind aided,it didn't come during the world record meet tough,it happened later on.and as i said he was apparently in 68 meter form in training there, the wind there doesn't always help out.
