Monte Carlo Masters is on right now.

Both semifinals resulted in upsets, with :NOR Ruud defeating :SRB Djokovic 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 and :GRE Tsitsipas “defeating” * :ITA Sinner 6–4, 3-6, 6-4 in a very controversial match (Wasn’t the only point in which the umpire/linesman made a mistake, but a key one was when Tsitsipas was serving down 1-3 40-AD. Tsitsipas faulted on his first serve, then on his second serve he faulted again, but it was called in. They missed the call, so Sinner played the point and ended up losing it. Sinner had cramps throughout the match, that point got into his nervous system, which really impacted his play with Tsitsipas holding serve and reeling off the next four games after that)

To be honest I don't think it is fair to say this and put the asterisk, though Italian fans crying on social media are trying their best to tell us Tsitsipas didn't deserve to win (as if Sinner hasn't won anything lately and this was his only chance).

There was also a point early in the third set where the umpire made a big mistake against Tsitsipas which resulted in him getting broken in the first place. Also Sinner could've stopped the point to have the umpire check the mark (I understand it is a risk for him but he had the option) while Tsitsipas did not have the option in the point where he was robbed (linesperson erroneously called Sinner's shot out while Tsitsipas was hitting the ball, which went out, and the umpire said it was after Tsitsipas hit it when the replay clearly shows it was before).

Also at the end of the day Sinner still wasted a 4-2 lead and lost 4 games in a row to lose 4-6, and as you said he was cramping, it's not Tsitsipas' fault that Sinner struggled with the conditions, and Tsitsipas has a very good record against Sinner in the past, especially on slow courts like this one.

HUGE win for :CAN Felix Auger-Aliassime at the Madrid Open (in more ways than one), defeating leader on the ATP tour in matches won :NOR Casper Ruud (a known clay-court specialist) 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the quarterfinals :yikes::hyper::cheer::cheer:

31 wins on the season for Ruud, while Auger-Aliassime has been struggling to find his 2022/2023 form throughout the season (to put it lightly), really surprised to see him not only win it, but win it in straight sets. FAA was on fire during the match though, recording 33 winners and 13 unforced errors (might have to double check) compared to 17 and 7 for Ruud.

Hopefully this win can help boost his confidence, and he can show this type of form heading into the rest of the season.

:ITA Sinner withdraws from the tournament due to his hip injury.

:CAN Auger-Aliassime through to his first career clay-court Masters 1000 semifinal, and a first since Paris in 2022.

What a cursed tournament. :CZE Mensik, :ITA Sinner, :CZE Lehecka, :AIN (RUS) Medvedev have all either retired from a match or withdrew from the remainder of the tournament due to injury.:cry:

:CAN Auger-Aliassime with three of them, against Mensik, Sinner, Lehecka, and with that he’s through to his first career Masters 1000 final, against :AIN (RUS) Rublev. He’s only played three full matches, and only one of them was a quality opponent in Ruud.
