I was wrong. If you sum the total World Cup points won (excl. relays) in week 1 versus week 2, then Italy is indeed under-performing compared to Stage 1.   Most improved are:  +336 p

Final ranking:

  1. :KOR South Korea - 8.247 points (+1.475 points)
  2. :CAN Canada - 7.284 points (+1.177 points)
  3. :NED the Netherlands - 6.089 points (+1.332 points)
  4. :CHN China - 4.869 points (+206 points)
  5. :USA the United States of America - 3.594 points (+742 points)
  6. :ITA Italy - 3.451 points (+515 points)
  7. :POL Poland - 2.260 points (+554 points)
  8. :BEL Belgium - 2.193 points (+286 points)
  9. :KAZ Kazakhstan - 1.964 points (+475 points)
  10. :JPN Japan - 1.954 points (+324 points)

:NED had by far their strongest weekend of the season, right before the World Championships in Rotterdam. The same goes for :POL in front of their home crowd and :KAZ showed under their new trainer that they're making great progress. Team :USA is also improving towards the World Championships. 

 

:CHN had a poor showing, but that was expected with their senior team all competing in the Chinese National Winter Games, :ITA started the season off great in Montréal but in hindsight that seems to have been a positive outlier and :BEL also had their poorest showing of the season as well.
