I wish her a speedy recovery but man that is such a gut punch.

She had a great chance of winning the first ever Canadian individual ski jumping medal. Strate has looked really good so far this year though so I hope she can still get the job done!

Yeah exactly but I noticed after strate won the test event in the normal hill she had a DNS in the large hill along with loutit and Maurer. Do you think they all sat out because of her injury ? Or why would our whole team not start?

Yeah, that's exactly why. The Austrian team also sat out because their best female jumper, Eva Pinkelnig, suffered the same injury as Loutitt.

Evidently at least three serious injuries resulted and there are serious concerns about the jumps. At least three major injuries happened, many sat out, and Poland has rethought their plans to move their training there

  • 1 month later...

I see that Tarik van Wieren is entered on the world cup start list tomorrow along side Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes. Maybe still a small chance to qualify a mixed team. The qualification system is very favourable towards smaller countries

    • At the beginning, she was considering a helicopter transfer within that day as 3 companies offered her that option. But later, she did not give a clear answer but said that she will compete PGS. Some information still seem to be a bit unclear, but some information does not want to released to public. I am not so sure. But what actually happens, we have to wait for that certain day
    • Yes, they also wrote about It months ago on the olympics website: https://www.olympics.com/en/news/ester-ledecka-chooses-snowboard-over-alpine-downhill-milano-cortina-2026
    • Not really. Maybe you heard it wrong. She decided to give up downhill and will focus on snowboarding parallel Giant slalom. After that, she should participate in Super G and Team Combined.    Btw, maybe, but really maybe, she may take part in one downhill training which is a condition in order to participate in downhill race. Why am saying that is the fact that if the downhill will be postponed to another day due to weather conditions, she would go for the downhill race as well.
    • Actually it was announced some time ago she will do the Snowboarding PGS on Day 2 and then the Alpine Super-G on Day 6 (+ still in discussion process the start in the Alpine Combined Teams on Day 4)
    • Apparently she changed her mind
    • didn't Ledecka said that she's going to choose alpine skiing in Cortina rather than snowboard in Livigno at the Games?    if yes, why make this race Today?   or she did make up her mind and decided to go for the safe gold in PGS?
