Sport Climbing IFSC World Championships 2019

in today's men's boulder quali, only :CZE Ondra and :KOR Chon saved the honor of the rest of the world in front of the mighty Japanese armada, capable of placing all of their 7 contenders in the top 12 of the ranking (5 in the top 7)...:nopompom:

for Italy, good result for Piccolruaz (also in preview of the Olympic Combined event), but now he really needs to change to another gear to improve from his quali position...will he be capable of that? :fingers:

I hate that the Boulder Semifinals and Finals are on the same day. It makes the event impossible to cover as a journalist. Plus, the Tokyo time zone doesn’t help.

Crap, boulder finals today already. I'm a little behind on watching the season and am now finishing up the Wujiang boulder World Cup :d Still Munich, Vail, Villars, Chamonix and Briançon to go  (not sure which of those are boulder as well, apart from Munich which is)

Very interesting competition today. I’m pulling some form of a semi all-nighter just to watch :yes

Well it sure was an interesting semifinal to say the least. Here are some stats and facts for y’all.

  • 7 out of 80 possible tops made
  • 3 tops for Garnbret
  • 1 top on boulder 1
  • 2 tops on boulder 2
  • 2 tops on boulder 3
  • 2 tops on boulder 4

It was an incredibly brutal semifinal. I’ll have a full write up available on Totallympics Media’s website after the women’s final.

I have in on my TV :)

The Italian girl really struggled because of her height in the Semifinal . This should be a great final though.

I saw, but she isn't here fod the the boulder event, this is just a plus. She is our specialist for the combined event, this is like a trainin (and a qualification for the semifinals) I guess ;)

    • Exactly. Recent developments of the construction haven't been particularly encouraging, and while they'll probably get everything sorted just in time, a lot of North American fans have been quite vocal about every minor inconvenience.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
