Stage 5
Frascati > Terracina

giro-d-italia-2019-stage-5-profile-2adb7

The route is mostly flat, starts downhill and finishes along the Tyrrhenian coast, with just a short climb 50 km before the finish. In the central part of the route, the roadway is narrowed and very worn out at points. The end of the stage is raced on wide and well-paved fast roads.
Final kilometres

The final 9.2 km circuit takes place on broad, mostly straight urban roads. There are 3 consecutive bends between 8 and 7 km from the finish. The home stretch (1,500 m) is perfectly straight. The finish line sits on 7.5 m wide tarmac.

Discover the Departure

Frascati

Frascati4.jpg

Frascati is the most famous of the Castelli Romani’s towns. It is renowned for the Tuscolan Villas, patrician residences from the late-Renaissance and baroque eras which the nobility of Rome often built over the remains of Roman villas. Frascati is also one of the most important scientific research cities in Europe—it houses numerous research centers (Enea, Infn, Esa – Esrin)

Gastronomy

Wine and typical products can be tasted in the famous “fraschettas”. Frascati is a wine city, producing Frascati Superiore and Cannellino (both DOCG) and the Frascati DOP.

 Places of Interest

It is also known for the Cathedral, the Episcopal Palace, the Church “del Gesù” and the Aldobrandini Stables, now housing the City’s Archaeological Museum.

Discover the Arrival

Terracina

8.jpg

Slightly more than 100 kilometres from Rome and 120 kms from Naples, Terracina lies on about 15 km of coastline, along the wide gulf marked by the Circeo and Gaeta promontories. The two symbols of Terracina are the sea and the Temple of Jupiter Anxur. The latter was part of the monumental complex of the ancient acropolis, situated on the top of Monte S.Angelo, which affords a breathtaking view of the entire gulf and the Pontine Islands.

    • That is absolutely certain. Any somewhat reasonable politician should be good enough to win against someone like Trump, even with the unfortunate timing (for the Democrats) of having to carry the brunt of the COVID pandemic consequences and so any Republic having a bit of a head start anyway.   But yeah, dreadful performance overall from Harris, who seemed to start quite positively, but then just lowered herself to Trump's level in terms of throwing shit at each other. That was a terribly dumb choice, nobody is going to beat Trump at the insult game, as we have seen.

    • It was never a priority to stop the war but to prolong it to offload the old weapons systems and keep Russia occupied in a conflict. But the West's strategy backfired as it pushed Russia to friendship with China. Many don't realize as Russia and China are actually adversaries even when they shared a common ideology during the Soviet era
