It’s not everyday you see a result like that for Luxembourg in alpine skiing :d (Then again, she is already an olympian :p)

Speaking of results you don’t typically see in winter sports, Vaclavik :SVK leads after the short program in boy’s figure skating :yikes:

:SVK Day 4 at EYOF 2023

.Figure Skater Lukáš Václavík leading the Boys Singles competition after Short Program is certainly a completely unexpected but more than pleasant shock. :p

However the gap is really so small between the Top 6 even Top 8 that nothing is done at all and it can end in either way for sure.

Everything will be decided Tomorrow afternoon.

.His team mate and opening ceremony flag bearer Vanessa Šelmeková (photo 1) had in other hand a very bad day with almost none of her jumps being landed correctly.. and is already far behind at 24th before the Free Skate

.Poor day had also both our Ski Cross participants and our Ski Mountaineering mixed sprint relay which finished dead last

.A slightly better day had Sophia Polak (photo 2) in Alpine Skiing Girls Slalom, with BIB 30 she succeeded to finish in 19th place and earned her best careers FIS points so far

.However, the good... what good... Great news of the day is the final confirmation of Preliminary Group triumph of our Girls Ice Hockey Team. So officially Team :SVK will not return from this EYOF empty handed, At least silver is secured, since the 1st place means qualification for the Final against very likely our beloved neighbor and former federal partners :CZE this Friday afternoon.

Thank you Nela :d

I’m not sure if that’s happened at the EYOF before, but it seems like something that would have happened at other sporting events. :CZE / :SVK derby would be quite the finale though. @Dragon might be able to shed some light on rather or not spouses have coached against each other at the Olympics.

In the entire history of the Olympics, only two sets of relatives have ever coached at the Olympics and only one set at the same Olympic Games.

The van Heumens, father Wim and son Gijs, coached the Dutch men and women respectively in field hockey in 1984.

The Bauer brothers coached Canada in ice hockey. Bobby in 1956 and 1960 and Dave in 1964.

So no spouses, sets of brothers or sisters or parent and child have ever competed against each other as coaches in any Olympics
